Are you doing duck's too?
No but I have some Call ducks and one hatched her own despite me telling her absolutely not.Are you doing duck's too?
You can get a power adapter that you can plug into your vehicle but then you have to keep your vehicle running. You probably need to invest in a generator. If Im not mistaken, GQF offers an adapter for the Hovabator Genesis you can hook to a car battery but then you would have to keep a spare charged car battery around. It seems like I remember seeing it on their website.Today is Day 21 for the 2 remaining eggs from that 5 year old cuckoo/barred Leghorn that I bought at the poultry show in 2020. I've been trying for some chicks from her all summer. This morning I woke up to the power out again, the incubator at room temperature, and condensation all over the top of the incubator. I covered it with a towel, even though I'm sure that didn't help. This is the third power outage while those eggs were in the incubator. Power outages happen a lot out here. I'm at the far end of the grid. Anyway--does anyone know of a small, home-sized incubator with some sort of back-up power system? Does that even exist? If not, maybe someone could make a fortune selling those.
Edited to add--I see a few on line, but they are marketed for Australia. I'd need one with a plug and power source that works in the US.
Depends what the end goal is?@The Moonshiner would you use this incomplete red columbian (RedxBrown) over a Buff pullet or would you use the Red Leghorn rooster? This incomplete red columbian is the oldest Red x Brown. His tail is still growing in, but he is much better in comb, back length, tail angle, etc than the Red. He is nice and wide, his tail makes a nice open triangle when viewed from behind. He isn’t “short and dumpy” as my husband calls the Red. But the Red is the sire to this bird so his genes are in there. The Brown Leghorn hen definitely complemented the Red in their offspring. What are your thoughts? Both roosters are pure wild type base.

What I'm hoping for is something with an internal battery that will keep running, sort of the way a laptop keeps running off the battery when it's unplugged. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try rigging up something like that. You can get a power adapter that you can plug into your vehicle but then you have to keep your vehicle running.
