The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop- A Role Play

“Would you like me to prove that this amulet is genuine by turning off the lights? I doubt you’ll like it, but I can do it,” Will Laurel replied. Kyle led a cautious Rylie to Laurel’s side.
The kids were mostly silent now, gawking at the stone.
“Every one-thousand years this stone starts glowing again,” Laurel started. “This leads to the beginning of a thousand year curse. This stone does not causes it, rather, it is our aid.” He stroked the curling lines. You could hardly see their glowing now, but with the lights off they looked like rivers of blue light swirling through the stone.
“This stone can take you to many places if you know how to use it. It also can attract you back to this place if activated, which I may need to do from time to time. It is called the mother amulet.”
Take stared at the two men, grasping his stone tightly.

Curse..?

“So you’re telling us that these glowing rocks can take us home?” He questioned, stepping forward.

He growled lowly “Teach us how to use them.”

"Calm down, people," this voice was deeper, louder, fuller than Kyle could ever make his own. A man, now standing over the counter scanned the room, curling his lip as his eyes passed over the girl with an ocean blue tee with silvery script written across the front, a chicken hanging off her shoulder. "Save the whales," he read. "Kyle?" he asked. "Where is my giant?"
Kyle muttered something under his breath about giant roosters being quite distracting.
"In fact, I expected a lot more adults in this room."
"You never can discount children and their curiosity," Kyle pointed out in a quiet voice, barely audible. Then he raised his voice. "Maybe we didn't pick the kids. Maybe the amulets did!"
"That sounds stupid," Will said. "Stuff like that only happens in fairy tales."
Kyle just nodded, mute.
"Now, I suppose you all want some introductions," Will Laurel said. He ran his finger along the rim of his shaded glasses. "I'm Will Laurel, and that there is Kyle Beck."
"I'm Aria." Aria said, suddenly feeling odd for having Petunia with her.
"My name is Luke." Luke said, feeling weird in his pajamas, where everyone else was fully dressed.

“I think the best way to explain things would be to show you,” Laurel said smoothly, pivoting on the ball of his foot. “Follow me.”
Kyle climbed back atop Rylie, despite the feline’s raised hackles and fluffed tail, bracing himself as he lead Rylie down off the table and after the man. His grip nearly slipped. He still hurt quite a bit after his encounter with a couple thousand year old amulet. Still, he made it ahead of everyone else.
Cam stood up slowly. “Where are we going?” She asked.
Will Laurel didn’t answer her question. Instead, he opened an innocuous door that probably had once been for a small storage closet.
Instead of cleaning supplies, however, the door led to a shadowy collection of stairs. That’s sure to scare the kids, he thought, taking care to flip on the light.
Aria followed. "There's no chance I could get an Iced Tea or Coffee or something?" She asked, slightly annoyed, because she always had coffee in the morning.

"Ok, cool, now turn the lights back on." Aria said, trying to look imposing with her small frame. She was short for her age, and very slim and fit. She looked as dignified as she could with her helmet hair and a chicken on her shoulder, squawking with her.

"So this," Blair held out the blue stone in her hand, raising it to her eye level with a flat palm. "Is connected to this mother stone. And you gave it to each of us, to bring us here, to fight giant bugs?" She raised a single brow, her gaze drifting from her stone to Laurel.

"Yah. You took me from my nice bed in Alaska, and brought me to Missouri, because I got a pretty rock, you want me to fight giant bugs?" Luke asked, annoyed. "I'm still in my PJ's for goodness sake!"

"Well, if you want us to help you, explain quickly. Also, if you expect us to stay here, send us home so we can get the stuff we need." Aria commented. Then something hit her. "I was biking with my brother when I came. Did he see anything? Does he think I'm still biking with him?"

“Um HELLO?! I CANT STOP” Fred shouted trying to stop himself from sliding towards the stone.

“H-Help! I can’t stop” he cried
Annie jumped forward and grabbed the excited boy by the scruff of his shirt.
"You ok?" She asked him startled, she was trying to listen to Will, but it was really hard with all these strangers around, she still didn't really know who her fellow abductees were.

“Thankyou” he smiled “I’m Fred and im 11”

Clary grinned up at them. “Aw, don’t be scared. Come on, I’m sure you guys are curious. Besides, I’ll keep you both safe from the potential killers that wait at the bottom.” She said, her bright green eyes grinning with excitement. She flattened into the wall as the small bug-child hurtled past her, and then followed her down the steps, taking two at a time.

"I guess so," Colby agreed slowly, testing out his voice. No squeaks this time. He reached down into his pocket to grab his phone and muted his music so he could take all this in better. "I've got my phone if things get weird." He took a single pace toward the ominous door, then turned back and shyly offered her his right paw. "Ack, sorry about my manners. I'm Colby."

Cam was tentative, but her curiosity got the better of her. Will Laurel walked down the stairs, which weren’t nearly as scary with the lights on. It definitely more inviting than her own cobweb encrusted crypt of a basement at home.
He wouldn’t summon a bunch of kids here from multiple different time zones using magical stone thingies just to drag us into a basement and kill us, right? Right???
She really wasn’t sure.

Will Laurel stepped into the cool basement and gazed upon the piece de resistance with a remarkable amount of awe on his normally impassive face. It seemed to Cam as though it must impress him every time.
There, smack dab in the center of the room was an enormous blue stone, etched with swirling lines curving into a circle in the middle.
It was so huge and beautiful it looked fake. Like part of a movie set or something you only read about in stories.
But that was what this place was starting to feel like. Some kind of story.

With complete caution, Blair descended down the steps, every part of her alert. Great, I'm going to be kidnapped by some sort of government force wanting to use people like us as lab rats, aren't I?
Yet, what she saw completely erased any thought from her mind. A massive, sapphire blue stone, glowering and almost pulsing, sat in the middle of the cellar. Intricate swirls and lines, carved and polished with delicate care.
And it appeared absolutely, utterly and blatantly fake.
She stared at Will, her lower jaw falling open. "What kind of joke is this?"

Fox hovered by the group at the top of the stairs, overwhelmed by the amount of different emotions thrown at him. He took a step back, everything in his mind screaming for him to run and get out of there. But how would he get home? Massachusetts wasn't exactly a joy walk away.
He plastered himself to the wall behind him, and refused to move. No way would he go down those steps.

“Would you like me to prove that this amulet is genuine by turning off the lights? I doubt you’ll like it, but I can do it,” Will Laurel replied. Kyle led a cautious Rylie to Laurel’s side.

Annie ran full tilt into the room with everyone else. Some how skidding to a stop before crashing into the big blue glowing boulder in the middle. It looked like the little stone she had tucked in her pocket only 1000 times bigger.

"Woaaahh cool!" She said reaching a hand out to touch it. She stopped short thinking maybe it would throw her somewhere else stupid far away. Maybe to the giant bug planet all alone. She dropped her hand and stepped back the same distance from it as everyone else she didnt want to accidentally be zapped away all by herself.

Seeing Will touch the stone or amulet as he kept calling it made Annie feel less like she might disappear at any moment.

"So this," Blair held out the blue stone in her hand, raising it to her eye level with a flat palm. "Is connected to this mother stone. And you gave it to each of us, to bring us here, to fight giant bugs?" She raised a single brow, her gaze drifting from her stone to Laurel.

“I like that name,” Brid responded, shaking his paw as they descended. “I’m not sure if I introduced myself yet, but oh well. I’m Brid.” She could hear some sort of yelling behind them and assumed someone else had appeared.

Will grabbed Ellie's hand and wrenched him back.
"Not yet. You will go home soon, but not yet. First we have to find a way to stop the curse. I really was fortunate to find the map in time..." Laurel unfolded a huge piece of parchment.
It had odd markings writhing their way across the paper, a pattern identical to that on the stone behind him, with runes explaining the functions of each swirl. Or at least, that was what Cam would assume was their purpose.
That doesn't look much like a map to me.
Laurel let the paper drift to the ground and strode over to switch off the lights.
Now the room was illuminated only by the stone. Several of the swirls were illuminated now, compared to the few he had seen in the morning. Each of the teens' faces was bathed in an eerie blue light.
Will Laurel almost tripped as he stumbled back toward the stone. That can't be right, we must have more time.
He lifted the strange parchment to the stone, fingers shaking. The swirls glowed through their duplicates, making the thick goatskin seem almost translucent. His face turned grave.
"We might already be too late."

*goes slightly back in time just to respond to this *

Kipp perked up at the mention of coffee, finally someone who had some sense. If they were going to be fighting giant bugs they had better get some coffee, and have it supplied for free, seeing as how he didn't have any cash on him. Maybe this girl with the chicken wasn't so weird after all. He went down the stairs and kept his eyes on her, wondering if she would think he was less of a human for looking like her chicken or if she'd like him because she though of her chicken as more human than most humans would.
