The Most Influential Books In Your Life

Covered Wagon Women by Lillian Schlissel

This just fascinates me and having lived in Oregon City and been to many of the places cited in the diaries, the rich history and coping of these women inspires me.

Every time we go by the Pioneer Woman's Grave on the Barlow Trail, we leave flowers.

Crime and Punishment

Brave New World

A Tale of Two Cities

Oliver Twist

The Bible

To Kill a Mockingbird

The Chosen

Johnny Tremain

A couple of the most influential books for me as a young person (way back when) were Les Miserable by Victor Hugo and Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George. These were two books that really inspired me when I was a teenager and have stayed with me since.

Les Miserables is one of those books that I try to read every year. I get something new from it with each new read.

That sounds like a book that I would enjoy.

I love reading about the lifes of our foremothers.

Wow..that's tough!
Definitely the Bible.
Probably Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man, The Black Stallion, and Thirteen Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey. The ghost book was the first thing I checked out at the library, and I have been fascinated with ghost stories ever since.

The Bible-for everything you need to know about how to live
Total Money Makeover-for everything you need to know about personal finance
7 Habits of Highly Effective People-for everything you need to know about everything in between

If I had never read any books other than these 3 I'd still be the person I am today. All other books have been to accentuate the things I have learned in these 3. The Bible being the most important and most needed in the most instances that I felt the need for guidance. The other 2 could even be considered complimentary of the Bible. I only read non fiction books for the most part. Fiction could not in my opinion even be considered to be life changing or influential because they are based on someone else's imagination and opinion. I like to think for myself and draw my own conclusions rather than have it insinuated as to what I should think by reading someone else's thoughts. Even the last 2 on my list are taken somewhat lightly due to strong opinionated content. I love to read!!
