Tomorrow will be day 17 for me and I'm going to candle the eggs under my broody again. Some close friends of ours bring their kids over all the time to play with our daughter and they have been counting down the days until we candle again. It's cool how much they have gotten in to the chickens. I went today and picked up some new babies to add to my BLRW and EE chicks. I brought home 4 Ameracaunas, 4 Lemon Cuckoo Orps, and 1 Polish. I've always thought the Polish look like rockstars so we have named him Slash the Cockstar. We have been laughing about his name all afternoon. I LOVE this chicken so much already and luckily he lets me love on him all I want. He's got an awesome little personality. Here is Slash in the truck on the way home this afternoon! He just makes me smile and giggle every time I look at him!

oooh, lookin good! :)

Okay so my eggs are in the incubator for this hatch but I did have 4 white silkies set earlier that hatched yesterday ..... Well I just had to share what I came home to last night... When I went to work yesterday there were 2 eggs hatched and 1 zipped and #4 had done nothing. So when I got home from work I went to check on the chicks and there were 3 hatched. I looked at #4 thinking it was maybe a dud and I saw that it had fluff by it .... I thought it was one of the other chicks close by... those brinseas are so hard to see in!!!, but upon closer inspection I realized it was #4!!! There was a foot & a wing fluffed up sticking out of the egg!!! I opened the bator to look and the membrane had dried was obviously too tough for the chick to break .... So it was fully zipped with white membrane strings holding the egg together. It looked like a fake joke egg someone had made. The poor little chick was chirping so loud so I didn't take a picture ..... I thought maybe it was stuck and wasn't sure how long it had been there. I broke one little piece of membrane and the chick popped right out.... It was not shrunk wrapped or gooey or anything .... poor little thing I have No idea how long it was stuck like that! Its all fluffed up and happy today .... Just needed a really long nap after all that trauma!

x marks the spot
what dos O mark? lol...I have X's. and O's on my eggs. Turning for now, until my new bator gets here. The Retipro 6000. Hope it works as well as I have heard. Have heard good and bad, but more good..soo.. for what I need, it is just the right size. Waiting..for it to come!!

This has been a gorgeous day. THe trees are leaved out. DH is working on putting another pop door on the AM/EE coop. THe kids and I strung baling twine over the top of the run to keep the girls in. One immediately hopped up and thru an opening to sit on the top rail. UGH!!! At least she did it in front of me so I could run a few more strands. 6x6 is easy for an EE to get thru!
