Coal followed the man and woman up the gangplank. He’d just noticed the man was missing an arm and would have stared for far too long if he hadn’t noticed the crazy harpy tangled in the ropes.
All thoughts of the werewolf leaving his mind, he hailed him.
“Ay there! Did you get caught in the…” (he didn’t know what the ratlines were called) “the ropes?”
All of the other crewmates had turned a blind eye to his misfortunes. But Coal didn’t mind a little crazy, he welcomed it, in fact.
Coal flew up and landed nimbly among the ratlines, grabbing the ropes with hands and balancing his feet. His wings he closed tightly to avoid making the same mistake the crazed harpy had. He gently loosened the rope towards the bottom of his wings.
He made eye contact with the harpy, and what crazed eyes he had indeed. “So what baked your brains, anyway?” he asked frankly.
