-The Mythics RP-

(Oh I know that *chuckles* he kinda seems like he needs some silkies, silkies generally make people happy)
(I can provide those

)

(They have nothing to do with anything except they make people happy and he seems like a very grumpy miserable Man)
(Well... I guess that makes sense... but he probably wouldn't want to be caught with an "Emotional Support Animal," lol. It'd just be... awkward.)

(But the thing is, the little silkie would be so cute that he couldn’t say no, and it could ride around on his shoulder and bloop in his ear and then his blood pressure would go down
:wee)

(True, true, but his dignity! He wouldn't risk it! And who knows, he probably doesn't even see the need for help with his stress levels or anything like that, so someone would probably have to either show him or force him into getting actual help, especially in the means of a pet.
Though the cuteness... it'd have to work magic if that was the only way to win him over...)

(Idk…I feel like dignity is a small price to pay for a silkie…)

Ah, book smarts. Jintao hoped his disapproval didn't show on his face. His disappointment reached Vhanya's level. Not only did she not fully examine him before setting him as first mate, she sat this Harpy who had no sea experience whatsoever as a Quartermistress. Books never was the real thing, and as soon as something happened that wasn't written in one, they'd be doomed and Ember's reputation would be forever ruined, not to mention Vhanya's pride.
He bit his tongue. Such a failure could be detrimental to such a fine ship. He wanted to lecture Ember on all the ways she'd destroy this ship, but it wasn't his place to say them now. She'd fail, Vhanya would see her own mistake, and if she was wise, she'd take the harpy out of rank. No, it wouldn't go like that, Jintao was sure. If Vhanya was quick enough to make such a mistake, she was sure enough to give Ember grace until the ship sank as their enemy cheered.
Jintao walked past Ember and stopped in the doorway. Two hammocks rocked like mockery and Cyprus' chest sat judging them. He forced a nod through his tense muscles. "Will do," he stared into the room. "Quartermistress," he looked at her through the corner of his eye. All he could do was attempt respecting her despite wanting to spit on her.
"Lyra," the false name dug into his tongue. "Let her know where I'm staying. We've..." he clenched the weapon in his pocket. He had to get skilled with it if he was going to be anything here. "Got some business to work through. And if you happen to see Nautalis, let her know I'd like to see her as well."

(And this is the part where I decide no matter what my characters do, they will never be "worthy" of Jintao's standards and I will not attempt to make them not hate him anymore lol)

Jintao's mental mask was strong, but Ember's sixth sense pricked- the tense of a muscle, the glance of an eye- invisible things filing into an aura of disgust. Again. Her lip curled slightly as he slipped past her, revealing a dangerous pointed canine.
"I'll arrange it."
Her voice crackled with poorly restrained venom and she closed the door swiftly, the slam echoing louder than she intended.
Useless pageantry.
She stormed away, wings flaring. What was the point of civilized talk- especially allowing a little crack into the dark attic that was her past- just for these inconsistent humans to turn a lip up at her?
Pretending he has a right to paint who I am. Let him be inconvenienced then.
She found herself on the sunset-painted main deck, raking the shuffling collection of sailors for the human called "Lyra."

(Silkies raise the blood pressure of a certain man I know so there's no guarantees that'd work)
