I have killed "night time" predators 3 hours before sunset and 3 hours after sunrise. Hungry coons out eating. Or trying to in these cases. Foxes hunt day and night. I lost a few good hens and a few good roosters this spring to foxes until I killed them. Took the birds between 8 am and noon in each instance. It is best not to believe the myth that nocturnal predators only hunt at night. They hunt when hungry...period.I'd like to know more about that, but am worried it will cause a scene.![]()
I've lost cats to predation. Not sure why I've never lost any chickens to predators. My dogs definitely help.
Are night time predators your biggest worry? See my fears are daytime ones. My barn is very secure - and if something got in, my dog sleeps in the barn with the birds, so I think she would handle it.
I been wanting to mention the "scene" causer since the knarly ones were 1st mentioned. Still pondering all of that.......
