They don't have heavy duty legs but who knows :/ only time will tell. I'm still going to try & get the # of the person they originally came from if our so called "friend" can get it for me, then the mystery will be solved :idunno

You have beautiful birds. So pleased your houdan made it, she sure is pretty.
The colours in your photo's are so vivid, they look stunning
Thank you :) Their all thanks to Aoxa. Most she hatched out for me and the others she helped me find a good breeder. I still dont have them kept exactly how I want them to be but they are well loved and show it. They follow us around like puppy dogs XD. The babies are SLOWLY starting to but the adults know who feed them lol

They looked well loved and the lush grass must be heaven for them.

I took my babies outside yesterday so they could scratch and stretch their wings. We made a temporary run and I put a new coop in the run for them. The coop will be used eventually for a breeding trio or quad but for now the babies can use it.

It was so hot yesterday that I was worried about them being outside and at 1 point, I sprayed them with a fine mist of water to cool them down and to wet the grass so when they lay on the grass or dust bathed, at least they would cool down at the same time - they enjoyed the mist and played in it.

Because it was so hot yesterday and last night, I let them stay in the coop over night (the coop being (locked up like fort knox) and then did not sleep very well because I was worried about them. Needless to say, they were absolutely fine last night, full of beans this morning and running around in the grass as soon as I opened the coop. So babies fine, mother exhausted!

I am so glad I let them stay outside last night instead of in the brooder as we do not have A/C and it was hot all night and this morning at 5am, I was walking around in a tshirt and shorts. I think they would have been so uncomfortable had I brought them back inside. Our temps are supposed to remain this hot for at least the next 2-3 weeks so I will be leaving them outside from now on. By the time it gets cool again, they should be well acclimitized.

Some more photos from yesterday (I still have more to go through) but thought I'd share these two of the free ranging silkies. I started them young free ranging. They are just as good as any standard bird right now (but that may be because they can still see).

Here is one of my little partridge girls - 8 (almost 9) weeks old.

Some of the 6 (almost 7) week old chicks. Eating an apple.

Speaking of conversing with our chickens, Bob has taken up a new hobby:  getting the roosters to talk to him.  For a man who didn't want me to have any ("they're too noisy and mean"), he has certainly come a long way.  The other night when I came home, he followed me out to the coop (unusual) and said, "Watch this!"  He buck-buck-bagawed at the Silkie cock, who instantly repeated it back to him.  Later he went out to the other runs with me, where the Fayoumis did the same thing.  The Fayoumi boys are happy to crow about anything, and I've been waiting for him to tell me they should go because they're too noisy, and here he was encouraging them to crow!  He likes how male they look too, which again amazes me.    I'll take it :)

Haha this sounds just like my hubby, before I got them I got a massive lecture on why I shouldnt, and if I go ahead there soley my responsibilty, now first thing in the morning his there letting them out the coop, hand feeding them, and when we cant find him in the house I look to the bottom of the garden and there he is on a chair in the free range area watching chick TV...I think ill keep the "I told you so" to myself :p

These are really beautiful chickens. Do you have any photo's of your RIR when she wasa about 3 weeks old? I have 5 chicks but I am not sure they are pure so would love to see a photo for comparrison?

Your swedish flowers are so pretty, lovely colours. I love colourful chickens.

I don'r know anything about Rhodebar's but I like that little chappie so I looked at some photographs on Google and those boys grow into very majestic looking birds - wow.
