He started out somehow all the way up by the house. He ran to the barn. This is the part I didn't get on video. Alice was FLIPPING out with him. The poor chickens were hiding for a good hour afterwards.

He is so dramatic!

I read some articles recently about dogs suffocating to death because they got into plastic bags, so have warned people here to be "responsible" with plastic bags -- our chicken feed comes in woven plastic bags. After reading some more about the subject, it seems to be bags for things like potato chips that cause the majority of the pet deaths (we almost never have that kind of bag on the property), but also sometimes pet food bags. I only mention it because I was wondering if feed bags could suffocate an animal. Our dog does like to eat chicken feed ...

but wondering if my female is also Buckeye...

I hatched them for Camille. I got the eggs from a good breeder named Hallus. He kept RIR, Buckeye, Barred Rock and Chantecler. So it's a possibility he collected eggs from the wrong pen. That happened with the Chantecler and Camille ended up with three of those.

She looks yummy! ... erm ... pretty!!!
(I'm still researching good dual-purpose breeds for my laying flock, and this bird got my attention!)

Who was it that raises Buckeyes here?

Apparently I mistook my reds for RIRs. All along one of the males was a Buckeye. Totally makes sense why his comb was so small for so long now...

Let me know the info you get. Id love to be able to tell who is RIR and who is buckeye so I can decide who is getting culled and who goes into breeding pens when they come of age

I need a little help. I came home from work early today because I'm sick. Opening the car door, I heard a chicken screaming. This is Cecilia's behind. I had already poured water/peroxide over her before I remembered to take a picture. What can I do now? I know this is a Natural thread but my gut feeling says to start an antibiotic. I have 2 but never used them. Tylan 50 and Duramycin 10. I have homemade NuStock and farm salve. I gave her yogurt.

She has 5 baby chicks and they stayed hiding until I got her back in a cat carrier and then she started calling to them. they came out of hiding from under a huge bush.

She has several bleeding areas and her tail looks a little ripped, mostly she's missing feathers.

I called the neighbors to get their dog and they are as sick as I am over it. I had told them that Ginger chased the chickens and they didn't believe me. It's only because I came home early that I happened to see her here. I know they let her out to free roam when I'm not home. No bad feelings between us, unless it continues. My chickens sometimes roam on their way back yard but she was on mine when I caught her.

Hopefully, I can heal her.

BYW, my mother is still in the hospital and hopefully she can come home in 2 weeks. But today, I had to put her 15 yr old dog to sleep. He's been sick for some time now and was vetted. But now he's just suffering. (Cushing's Disease) When it rains it pours.

I think antibiotics for animal attack is a whole different thing then for sickness. If I were saving one from animal attack (all mine have been to bad) I would use antibiotics personally. Sorry I haven't researched to know which one would be better since I have always culled.

If she is raising chicks she isn't laying so that is good for giving time to heal the bum. If it is just skin and fleshy injury it should heal well and quickly.
