The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Mumsy, I do see how you came to those conclusions. I'm sure there is still a margin for error though, right?

I could tell EEs very quickly. Males tend to hatch much more silver than females.

I had a terrible time sexing my turkeys, but I had no opposite gender to compare them with. Took me quite a while!

Those toe deformities are usually incubator related. I've had that issue in a lot of chicks when my humidity was too high and my temp too low one hatch.
Do you remember Walt from the OT thread said he thought most toe problems were genetic?

The other two teens were hiding inside the tops of the nest boxes, can't see them there unless below box level. They even went to the top roost with the big kids, a first. Usually I have to put them out of the nest box and onto the middle roost.

Congrats Melabella!! Something has gone wrong on BYC-I haven't received notifications in 3 days from any thread :( I just now went to this one width: 350px; height: 263px;" width="350">

Jockeyba,

Congratulations!  How cute is that wyandotte egg.  I swear, you would have thought I had a grandchild this morning.. I was so happy, and no one was home!  Horses thought I was patzo,,

Happy New Year to you too!

Someone else a few posts back said they weren't getting any notifications as well.  I forgot what they said about it.
