The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I have all kinds of nest boxes. The girls favorite is an old bathroom cabinet I removed doors on. I picked it up on the side of the road 10 years ago and it is still in one piece. I also have old wood boxes I bought at a rummage sale for $1.00. I also have two old chests that are tipped over and the lids are braced up and they use the lid to roost on too. I also have the nest boxes i use as broody areas build right into the walls of the big coop.

These can be used as nest boxes, or as containment. They are upstairs and do not get much use. I rarely use this room.

These are in the white coop and the ones with fronts are used for broodys the others for nests.

This is one of the old chests with the lid propped up

I also have an old copula I use in this fly pen.

a broody box

This is a portable nest box and I move it from coop to coop.

This is the cupola

These are old cabinets with the fronts taken off and different faces put on for brooding.
I like renew, reuse, and refurbish. A small part I can do for the environment.

Just thinking about/praying for Pozees and all our other friends in Colorado as the flood waters go down and searches begin.
Aww, thank you mlowen! We are fine down here in Pueblo, maggiemo has had a lot more to deal with up in the Boulder area. Pueblo proper got more rain than we did just South of town, where we only got just over an inch across 5 days, and it has been very welcome! Last night I finally had to water my vegetable beds again but had a week off from watering and thoroughly enjoyed it. On the Colorado thread our folks have been checking in when they can, between filling sand bags and diverting water around their coops, now we are just watching for rivers and streams to peak and recede south and east of the rainfall.

anyone with any thoughts about putting my broilers out with lows in the 40's? three weeks old, not many feathers on their bottomsides. 25 of them, and the back half of the tractor is sheltered? They're running out of room in the grow out box but I don't want them freezing outside!
