Quote:Are you sure it's from that? My birds have eaten plenty and never fell ill. Now I make sure not to have any around at all.I just lost a chicken that I think was from eating styrofoam. They managed to make a hole to get under the porch where we had put recycled sheets of slab styrofoam and the dog pulled a couple down. The chickens thought it was lunch, I guess. By the time I found it, it looked like it had snowed.
It's a chicken thing. Maybe the texture? One afternoon my birds ate a hole through a styrofoam kick board that fell out of our pool before we even knew it had fallen out. Couldn't have been more than forty minutes. I don't understand, why styrofoam either.

Thanks
So I caught myself thinking... cute! And I figured out why... I can see eyes! I always assumed there were diff breeds of Silkie... what kind is this one? Are there any sans feetie tufts? A fuzzy, but otherwise proper looking chicken?
Have you guys ever heard of a chicken's vestibulo-ocular reflex?
I have never heard of it until yesterday and find it absolutely fascinating!

Pay attention to the head. It stays stable while the body is moved. Mercedes Benz did this commercial, and I think it's the best car commercial of all time hands down.
ETA: Make sure you have sound!
Yep. We humans do that too, but because our eye to head size ratio is so much larger it isn't as noticeable. Until it goes awry. And then Oh Boy! Problems! The eyes will try to readjust balance by flicking back and fourth, leading to an extremely unplesant spinning sensation. Some folks may know it from a time when they've had too much alcohol. Myself, I (probably?) have Ménière's disease, so I can be stone cold sober and that feeling will wash over me. Not fun.
But the video was awesome. Thanks.Love them chickens!
