Yummy!I have a 5 gallon bucket for our FF and it got down to 3/4 full so I added a small bag of feather fixer feed, a couple of scoops of BOSS and some 3 grain hot cereal mix we haven't eaten. It is made of cracked wheat, rye and flax. Added water and stirred it with an old ax handle. Looks yummy!
From there I take about 3 quarts out. That's what I scoop from daily when I feed. To that I added some dry roasted peanuts and a scoop of peanut butter. Felt like a mad scientist. Served that up along side some fresh chopped spinach. The girls were ravenous today!
I agree! My DH doesn't do any construction - he does the gardening. We learned a long time ago that it works best for us that way. I love building things, or even just hanging curtain rods or whatever, and he just doesn't. But I love being able to say things like, "you know, I really like orange flowers," and pretty soon, we have some growing!Power tools are more important to me than the kitchen tools! I can get by without a blender, or the other counter space eating gadgets, but couldn't get by without all the shop tools! IMO, power tools are empowerment for women! We built our house in the mid 70's. A lot of learning experience to be had from that!
I'm pretty sure it can be filtered out, using a carbon filter. Here's a quote:chlorine cannot be filtered out of water; it is a gas and will evaporate out of the water upon standing or it can be boiled out (but IDK how long that takes)
Yes, a video, please!!A few things to remember for winter..
Check at least one bird a day..mites, lice, weight loss, combs, feet, ears, hip bones, breast bone.
I should do a video one day to show everyone how easy it is to do a vet check on a chicken. It takes less than 5 minutes. This is a perfect time to start handling your birds..
Wow! I bet they loved that! Now I feel like my girls are neglected!I have a 5 gallon bucket for our FF and it got down to 3/4 full so I added a small bag of feather fixer feed, a couple of scoops of BOSS and some 3 grain hot cereal mix we haven't eaten. I have heard of other people giving chickens peanuts, I think its a good idea. Do they like the peanuts very much?Well. ..I was trying to watch the football game at the same time. ....
So what are the thoughts of feeding peanuts to chickens? Besides that they are expensive chicken treats. Think the extra protein is good for molting chickens? I gotta tell ya if you think chickens like BOSS.... :-D
I have given my hens peanut butter mainly left over sandwiches from the toddlers. The only thing that came to my mind was last week I was going to use some eggs for a pitch in but people there had peanut allergies. I could not find anything about a possible reaction from eating eggs from a chicken that ate PB so I changed what I brought.Well. ..I was trying to watch the football game at the same time. ....
