The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

i might have some of these ingredients and will serve it up before roost time. I'll do a yogurt mix for them. I know I at least have garlic, oregano, ginger. wonder if I should do a probiotic or electrolyte in the water?

My plan right now is major coop clean out and separate the rooster. If I separate him I can then see if anyone else has green droppings and then I'll get a better look at him. I'll have to do this at roost time as he's a randy feller. I have a busting headache. My son is going to love, love, love helping me with coops this afternoon, not. :)

sorry-- yes... I would do electrolytes and probiotics! Sounds like you have a good plan-- good luck with your son

One other thought. Some normal chicken poop can be green. I imagine you've seen "normal chicken poop" documentation before... http://chat.allotment.org/index.php?topic=17568.0

Because there is such a range of normal on poo...and some depends too on what they're eating... I rarely use poo as a determiner of illness.

I'm more likely to watch the behavior..puffed up, depressed, not active as normal, not eating/drinking, etc.

Quote: I don't have a problem with the grooming... I just have a 'thing' about hair EVERYWHERE! Sunny stays short most of the time, I just touch up face and feet as needed between baths, his fur stays a short natural curl (unbrushed). when it starts turning into mini-dreds, then it's time for a clip again. this time of year I have a harder time clipping anything but short, so a groomer friend will take him part way down. I only have 1 longer blade (4 3/4) and it's reserved for people use. LOL

the only time there's hair on the floor in my house is when I get the clippers out.

pony shedding season is bad too. LOL especially with 2 wooly minis. you can't get near them without getting covered.

Quote: I had 3 different set dates in 2 different bators... look down for the first set is tomorrow... so we shall see.
Power was off for 2 hrs and bators got down to 75.

Lambs calves, chicks, and maremma.... always have lots of pics of critters around here. Although it's rare that they ever see snow.
Took this one this afternoon after about 3" of snow and 13 degrees. Pretty uncommon for this "neck o da woods".
The maremma is my older girl Flo.

Now, it's a tough decision... is it more fun to cuddle a little puppy with puppy breath, or a newly hatched human child???
For me, that depends whose human child it is, and whether it's crying or not. Related to me (whether crying or not), or not related to me and not crying, baby wins, otherwise, puppy breath!.

Puppy breath is always good!
