The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I think I have made a final flock decision. 2 SFH as they are good foragers and fine layers with a nice look, 2 BR for egg production and they look good too, 2 andalausians and 2 anconas as they look good and are heat tolerant foragers w/ good eggs. The last two will be those beautiful Cornish. Next year I'm considering adding 5 Silver Appleyard ducks, as I hear they are a good breed and I would like to have some other fowl.
Sounds like a well rounded flock.

I realize i don't have many photos of them. I currently have 5 hens. I can see the similarities. This is one of the few pictures of one of my Ancona. I guess I should take a few more.

I was looking for a good dark layer, so I found the Harnvedler. I'm thinking about getting it, but my current flock plan is full. I'd much appreciate someone telling me which of my flock members is the least productive.

In the end, production is an individual affair as much as a statistical one, and a hen from a high producing breed may not nessesary be as good as she is touted.
