X2!!!

I just read something. Here's what I read:

Someone said that they turn on talk radio loudly outside while their chickens are ranging to discourage predators.

Your opinions and experiences, please. Do you think this would really work?

when I had skunks under my porch, I tried the talk radio (weather radio). It was worthless. Also, it drove me nuts. There is a reason I live where you can't see or hear neighbors, and how awful to have to listen to that noise yourself!.

It might work..preds do not like change. You would have to change the location of the *noise* daily I would think for it to make an impact. Try it out and let us know how it works.

Well....I'm laughing. An unexpected surprise in the barn. Judy went broody.

This is a little Ameracauna/Orp pullet that is maybe eight months old. She laid her first green egg on Feb. 2 and her last Feb 28. Yesterday she wouldn't get out of the next box when I took her egg. She was there at barn close up 6 pm. This morning I looked at her sitting in there and put my hand under her. No eggs. She scolded me good and pecked my hand a few times! I laughed louder! Seven/eight months old, laid fourteen eggs and wants to be a momma. Go figure. So...I took her three eggs out of the LG and put them under her. We will see how she does. These three eggs don't look like they are developing as well as the other test eggs. But I feel nothing ventured, nothing gained. I did not expect this. I'd rather have her eggs every day.
