The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

That would be wonderful if she hatched out a few silkies. Go Judy Go! At least you might have a mom to stick some baby's under to help raise.
Exactly my thinking! If she turns out to be a good brooder and mother hen, she will be very useful. I'll put all the rest of the test eggs under her and see how she does. It's going to get crazy here next week. My Fogle line HRIR eggs are coming and both my incubators are going.

mumsy, that is so sweet! makes me laugh, Judy going broody so quickly.

I don't have a lot to report about my kerosene treatment. I did not see any worms in any poops. I think in a few weeks I will try a little dr bronners soap in the water, and repeat either kerosene or soap a few weeks after that.

The sickly wellie is back to normal, thanks to delisha's advice. I am in awe that she is better, I have never had luck with hens who have that kind of symptom before. I have been treating her on the side with high protein (cottage cheese, yogurt & eggs) to make sure she eats - she is not agressive enough to get the treats - there is always enough feed, but she needs a boost.

everything is thawing, it is in the high 20's and with the sun, stuff is melting. I got to sit out on the deck to the trailer coop in the sun, and watch the girls. can't have a better day than that!

Kiddos are 9 weeks old today!
