I need to be prepared! This storm is supposed to bring 10 - 16 in of snow tomorrow night. YAHOO!!!!!!! The last couple of mornings we've had 2 in of snow or so and the girls either just peek out or start to come down the ramp and then, bump, bump, bump. The first hen stops and the rest bump into each other until they manage to turn around and all get back in. Very funny!
Snow! Yea! At least I know my water won't be frozen!

I hatched 2 cream legbar cockerels in my incubator last week, and since I was brooding, I went and picked up a four euskal oiloa/marraduna basque chicks as well. 2 were about the same age as the chicks I hatched and the other 2 are a little bit older. All are doing well and getting along just fine. I had my dd takes some pics today since I am not any good at taking pics. They move so fast, it's hard to get a good picture of them. They are eating the fermented feed like it is going out of style. I changed out the brooder material this afternoon and hopefully it will stink less. I gave the new chicks some time to get the old feed/smell out of their systems.

We are in Texas. :) There is a high school student who, along with her mom, have a great assortment of chickens about an hour north of me. They have almost everything I have ever wanted, and more. LOL I was able to see their flocks of cream legbars, swedish flower hens, basques, seramas, and orpingtons. I think she also had some cochins and appenzeller barthuners. The barthuners were new. I remembered to wear shoes I never wear outside here. I am actually supposed to wear them to the gym, but haven't been there for a while.

Anyway, it was a ton of fun to see what they are doing up there and I hope to keep buying eggs/chicks from them. I'm still thrilled I was able to add more chicks right now. Brooding 2 or 3 isn't nearly as much fun as 6!
