Thank you guys,,,I'm over the moon, texting my sisters, brother, and friends! I know this isn't a first egg thread, but had to share it with my family here!

Here is it next to a store bought "large" so I guess she gave me a beautiful medium egg. I slept in this morning to be ready for a New Years Eve party, and don't have a clue who laid it! Every one is in the coop too,,, as if they know something went on in there! They have cut up blue berries and strawberries that were a bit past human fresh and they still won't come out. Bright and sunny too! Could I possible get a second one? Is it contagious? lol

Here's one that was ask of me one time a while ago.
Why are your eggs different colors ours are always white? The follow up by the husband was SSSHHH don't be rude were guest.
Some inner city folks just don't know. Also had one time a farmer down the way have a guy pull up to the house to thank him for letting him deer hunt. Farmer said how did you do? Guy said I got a small one. Farmer looked in the back of the truck laying there was one of his goats.
True story.
Oh my goodness

Nice and brown too! Love it!

This is our first ever egg. My nephew was there the day Dixie laid it (my avatar) She passed away from egg binding in April. She was my favourite. The whole reason I'm so addicted. She will never be forgotten, and I am going to have a brooder coop (grow out pen) called Dixie's Chicks in her memory.

Also wanted to share this image I just found in my summer album. Don't let ducks fool you - they are smelly farts - all of them. But dang they are cute!!!

Has anyone made the imitation Nu Stock? Is it yellowish from the sulfur powder? I'm sure it is the correct consistency, maybe a little too thick. Since I don't know what I'm trying to imitate.....
Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks. Sue
I made some Sue it's more on the pale green side probably from the pine tar. I have been using it every eve. on one of my hens who had the beginning of Bumble foot. I had to work on mine a few times to get it right, but am happy with it now.

Quote: Oh what a nice idea, and I love that photo of your nephew. I slept in today to be ready for a New Years Eve party, so I don't have a clue who laid it..! At least if I was out early doing chores, I may have heard or noticed. It was pretty cold, I don't think it had time to freeze.. What happens if that does happen, do you have to throw out the eggs?

It has to be pretty cold for them to freeze. My hens are always laying throughout the day - as I have a lot of them. The eggs rarely freeze unless I forget to collect and they are left overnight. When they freeze solid, they crack - but sometimes they are just partially frozen - and the ones that crack I give back to the chickens. Raw. I peel away the remaining shell and they chow down on a egg-cicle.
