Thanks for sharing.

I was going to mention it before, but your roo looks a lot like a Swedish Flower!
I'll have to ask my buddy I got the eggs from again what he has for birds. I got all mutt eggs from him...and assumed he was part Polish as he has a Polish rooster and Hairdo has some crazy hair on his head. But I really don't know what he is other than a mutt

Hi Everyone!
Just found this group so want to add a post so I can go back and read all the awesomeness you have already shared. I am a strong believer in trying to keep life as natural as I possibly can. Use organic GMO free grain for example. Have had trouble finding natural ways to do worming. I am using DE, ACV and water kefir for other aids. Just set up a new paddock and want to learn how to grow and rotate grain crops or other plants chickens would benefit from eating, etc. So just a few thoughts to let you know a little about my goals, etc. I just have one very awesome Barr Rock hen now but will be getting chicks soon so am starting over. I want to raise them to be friendly and healthy as much as possible. Our local farm store receives chicks from Privett Hatchery. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this hatchery? Not sure if I can get Black Australorp chicks from a breeder. They seem to be somewhat rare & also shipping worries me for such a small number. I only need about 3-4. Well, off to read now.

Stony, totally doesn't seem like the kind of chicken I would picture you having. :) He's very pretty. BDM is right, he looks like a SFH

broody born mutt egg. One of my RIR's hatched him last summer. Eggs from a friend. He is a pretty good young roo so far. At 7 months old he is getting pretty big

At lockup I spent some extra time at one of the Sumatra pens. Gotta pull a few young boys out in the morning. Headed for freezer camp. I don't like killing broody born babies, but 2 of them need to go. At least 2...maybe 3. For tomorrow they just go in a chicken tractor. Gotta go.... too much chaos for the girls in there.

How much does a sumatra boy weigh once processed?

Yeah not fun.. It's so much quieter now that those 8 are gone. Only two were mating, but they were terrible. Started crowing very young and matured sexually young, but hardly had any meat on them at all. Enough for a meal for 2, and some soup, but really not much at all.

From what I have read on this thread, others please correct me if I am wrong, is feeding pumpkin seeds for natural worm prevention. I made sure the wild bird feed I just got had them in it and that has gone into the FF.
