The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Are they supposed to 'sit'? On the floor?
On the far right of the pic. And I realize how silly it sounds.

I am trying to remember... It is not fun to be old....

Wait a minute it is coming back...

There it is.... Last summer I had used the brooder trailer to transport a batch of rangers to the processor then put some new incubated chicks back in it. Wen to bed that night and woke up about 1am and it was raining.... I jumped out of bed flew to the window tore open the sash.... then what to my wandering eye should appear, but a torrent of rain and no raindeer.

Anyhow, I tore off downstairs remembering I had forgotten to put the tarp back on the trailer.....

When I got there they were all spread out, stretched out, stiff cold.... I knew I had lost the whole batch, til I reached down and touched one and saw it was breathing.

I rushed them to the house in a box, Carla heated a towel in the microwave, I got out the blow dryer and do you know every single one of them are with me today!

I was amazed at how strong they can be. Stiff and cold, like my joints in the morning, wet feathers stuck to their little bodies.....

LOL

I enjoy your way of story telling.

How heroic of you!

Heroic?!?!

Neglectful....

I was so angry at myself, but they bailed me out....
Thanks for the story!! I sure do hope they keep their pep up!

x2! It's all a learning experience..

At what age do y'all generally start chicks on FF? I've been waiting until 5-7 days...
Mine are day one...and they love it!! I have nothing to compare it to really, but they have taken to it well!
