Medicated feed does not have antibiotics. It has Amprolin(sp) in it, which PREVENTS the cocci from flourishing in the gut.
Thanks BDM. You know, I really can't wait to see if I notice a difference in the fly population. I am a bit maniacal about manure cleanup, to control parasites for the horses. Nothing I can do until I install my compost system about the manure sitting in the dumpster. Flys lay their eggs in it. I use Fly Predators in the past as well, but now that chickens free range, they don't stand a chance. They don't kill all kinds of fly larva anyway. The chickens were a July 23rd hatch, and didn't start free ranging till the late fall so they couldn't make a difference then, we'll see this year!Great pics, MB! wonder if the medicated feed -- being ANTI-BIOTIC would kill off, or at least reduce the effectiveness of the lacto-bacillus good guys???
Medicated feed has a Thiamine suppressant and nothing to do with anti-biotics.
