Do you use powdered or flake cayenne?
I just used powdered when I did the neighbors. But like I said I chop My own in the blender (habenaro, jalapeno, Serrano and one that is called selmies special mexican pepper) We grow about 100 hot pepper plants a year lots go to waste. We can't give away or can enough to use them all. So i started dehydrating extra for the birds seeds stems the whole thing ended up with three wal-mart bags full. If you grind your own be careful have the wind blowing away from you. The dust will make you start coughing uncontrollably and make you eyes burn. I also found I have to pick up the blender and shake it. I'm going to get the old hand crank grinder out of the garage left to us by my grandpa and try that some time to see if it works better.
OH something I did not mention is that I let the wet or fermented feed set over night and stir a couple times to get that hot all the way through the feed. I like it to be in every bite. Do the same when I add oregano or any dry stuff.

PigeonGuy~excellent advice about the hot pepper addition to the FF. Really simple instructions, that I don't need to write down. Thanks!

Ok sorry about the large pics its only way the post from my iPad.
I forgot a few things for background. No ones vent as u can see is red or irritated around the vent. The 2 with e red things protruding from vent also are same ones with a crooked comb. So I am guessing its a hereditary defect thing going on with them. But they all lay well, look good and are good weights. Everyone is out foraging everyday. They all roost together. The one with the most crooked comb is the one bossy picks on the most. They get fresh greens every day, have wood ashes in a litter box to dust in and basically all seem healthy when u look at them.
You defiantly need to watch those girls..sounds like you are doing everything right. Pinched tail will give you problem sometimes..like prolaps
Sorry didn't get original post in there. What to I need to do to start new batch of ACV from an old bottle of Braggs that has the Mother left in it.
purchase a gallon container of cheep CV and add your left over in it. You just keep doing that every time you get to the end. You will have an endless supply.

It just takes longer, like a month or two. Try and keep it in a dark area too, don't know why, just read that.

I used apple cider bought at Aldi's 1.00 1/2 gallon it was on sale cause it was going to expire in two days. I don't know much about how to tell if it was done. It looks like mother on top and smells right after only 3 weeks I think. Have tendency to loose track of time on when I started stuff. Anyway put some in both my main ferment buckets and the next day it was bubbling so much I thought it was going to explode.
I am going to try the frozen juice though and see how that goes.
This summer when the apples get ripe I am going to put some in a 5 gallon bucket and smash then up by taking a wooden 4 X 4 and just pulverizing them add some water cover with cheese cloth and see what happens. It will either work or it won't who cares apples are free.
