Anyway it was best if she wasn't well.

Loanwizard, those are great looking eggs. Who knew you could cook? I use mayo in deviled eggs plus mustard and sweet pickle juice--that's it. Yum! I wish i had made some today.

I was married for 16 years to a woman whose grandmother used to own a restaurant in Bunker Missouri, that raised her daughters in that kitchen. For 20 years I did not enter the kitchen as I was a bother and not good enough.... that sounds bad and it wasn't.... all those women including my ex.... could flat out COOK!

I went through a mid life crisis, left my family for a 20 year old that sometimes burned hamburger helper..... I went out and got me a Betty Crocker cookbook and started to teach myself.

Today I am with a wonderful woman that has raised 4 children plus as a single mother. She cooks, but way too many heat and eat, processed stuff.... A couple times per week, and most Sunday dinners are mine, plus holidays main course. I enjoy preparing for a lot of people. Ol Betty taught me how to make mashed potatoes, pie crust..... don't bring no store bought crust in my house...., apple pie......

One of my favorite tools in the kitchen is the pressure cooker. I have 3. An electric that is fantastic but too small, a 6 quart which is the workhorse, and the big canner.... Canning chicken as we speak from the killer beast of a dog....

Used to be Sunday morning before everyone got up, I would put a round steak, or roast in a pan of water, covered with foil at 300 degrees for 4-6 hours.... Now it is 45 minutes in the pressure cooker and is more tender.

I must say that my favorite cookbook today is.... Google.... saw the colored deviled eggs on Facebook, googled it and made it.

I think it's a "she" too.

The hatcher had
Clean Leg Marens

Also had bantam orpingtons but this kiddo is not a bantam - she's the same size as the others that look like females.

Now this next photo is from From this post: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/375288/swedish-flower-hen-thread/3230#post_10403948

I was hoping she might turn out like this...and miraculously have her legs turn yellow in a few weeks

Finally caught up today! It was a gorgeous day here - about 75 and sunny - got a little breezy and had a dust devil come through, but other than that, gorgeous! My husband, kids and I went to a wonderful service this morning and then spent the rest of the day outside with all the birds... Watched the ducks swim and fed them kale, let the big flock out to free-range for hours, and sat in the big girls' (and boys') run with our 1-5 week-olds while they exercised their little wings, took dust baths, and climbed all over us. So much fun!

LOVE all the pics today of the cool eggs - I have definitely got to try the colored deviled eggs! I LOVE deviled eggs.

Aoxa, so cool about that one barred feather!

Lastly, do I have really weird roosters? They saw a cat for the first time on the other side of the fence and the boys started singing the "egg song".

Really??!! Now, when there's a hawk, raven, dove, or even a tiny little sparrow, they do this weird throaty warning call but with the cat, they felt the need to SING? None of the girls joined in, just the 3 boys. Then the cat moved and they all went screeching and flying to the other side of the yard and continued to sing the egg song. I was laughing sooo hard!

I watched the YouTube video about making the lacto bacteria mixture I'm just wondering if ppl are using that for their FF (I am feeding an ACV batch now) I know you can spray it on your bedding any other things?
In your garden

Happy Easter all! I couldn't resist sharing this photo of my daugher trying out her tricycle, watched by a very suspicious Mr. Bennet.
cute picture
Aoxa - here's another photo of black. Just tiny little white tips feather tips here and there. You can barely see them.

I bet more color comes in after first molt

I think I'll be making a few deviled eggs today! I use fresh eggs and don't have a problem. I use an ice water bath and let them cool.

LW thanks for making me laugh!
