The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Can you guys take a moment and check out our coop (not really a coop) page? I wrote from beginning to end.

Very nicely done. I believe that even this will be of comfort to you in the years to come.

A sample of our 13 FF fed babies post bath. It was nerve wracking and took two hour but had to be done. Trial and error but we found the best way to get the dried feed off them was to wrap them up in a towel and hold the warm wash cloth on top of their head till it softened and them commence scrubbing-gently. Now we know to wipe them everyday so they don't get crusty again, and maybe give them a drier ration of FF than we were.

They are adorable. I have some younger chicks & feed FF. I purchased one of those Plastic chic feeders at TSC and just made the head holes bigger so they could fit in there to eat but it left the top post across the top so they couldn't walk in their food. My BCM have feathered feet/shanks & constantly try to scratch the dish before eating

& the little BR is always walking the top part.

You can sort of see the bigger cut outs. I did open a couple more spots & made sure they had smooth edges. That way my EE who is 8 weeks can easily eat from here as well yet I dont have chicks covered in FF. I know others have used glass bowls with plastic lids that they cut holes in to prevent the chicks from walking in it

Showed my contractor (here trimming and painting windows inside) your barn. He agrees it looks more like a HOUSE! LOL Made NO comment to him on how FAST yours went up......

Ok, here's the requested picture of the mystery chicken. I don't even know for sure what breed it is.... I got it in an assorted group. They were four weeks old at easter, so they're about 12-13 weeks old now.

I know that it's a terrible picture, but it was just me and the cell phone camera, and a not terribly cooperative chicken.... That is NOT the way that Bossy normally holds his/her tail either. that was in protest of the general instability of my hand as a perch.

I opened the "barn of all barns" thread and I'll read it at naptime. SO EXCITED to see it coming together!
