The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Funny, she's a silkie and doesn't like the silkies :p

Adorable photos! Glad she gave in and sold them to you anyway. Good price for 6 chicks and 8 eggs!

She just doesn't like yellow/white chicks, the little weirdo! And yes - an amazing price for the chicks and eggs. Chicken people are a special breed.

Our neighborhood is in the county,so no city laws on it. Many people hunt in their back yards. It's basically rural living with neighbors. Everyone has their own well, own propane tanks, own septic tanks. Only utility run is power and communications.
I live rurally and with my own well, septic and what not and we are not allowed guns within so many feet from a residence. I do not know the exact number.. But my grandfather (avid hunter) said you can not hunt in your backyard, or even close.. What if they missed and shot through a window and killed a human? There are good reasons for these laws.

x2 I can't tell you how many bullets I've found on the trails/ road. That's why you shoot in the woods, instead of by someones car/ house!

know your target and beyond. Rule number 1.

So even if allowed by law to hunt in your backyard....it depends. Anyone with an 1/2 an ounce of common sense won't shoot in the direction of their house or their neighbors house. If your backyard is nothingness.... but along side of you is houses, and the law in the area allows it there is nothing unsafe about hunting in your backyard. IF you know your target and beyond. If you don't don't shoot. Common sense stuff

Why would you want to bring targets to your backyard? I can totally see shooting things that prey upon your livelihood (which is also not allowed here, and I strongly dislike). But to hunt in your backyard by enticing wild animals with urine, or calls, that there does not sound like common sense to me.

To each their own I guess.

target..... the living thing you have the gun aimed at. In gun lingo your target is the intended item to kill. Nothing more nothing less.

I think you are thinking of lures... not targets,
