The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I don't get hateful, but it is my money, my body, my choice.  There is a reason the government has made food disclosure the law.  I am GF by medical necessity not by choice, but even if it was my choice it is still my money and my body and my choice.

Totally true for so many people, but unfortunately it has also become a "trend" and a lot of people are just doing it, not out of medical necessity. It's one of those fad diet things going on right now, where people think Gluten is making them fat, so now they need to be gluten free.

If that's your problem, then you have a legitimate medical allergy. Don't have a rant about it, have a rant about these goofy people who are just doing it to be trendy or lose weight! You are absolutely right that you need to eat gluten free for your health, there are people out there who are doing it because they are full of horse $&@.

Well Armorfirelady, the super blue egg layer has turned out to be a bust. Edie's 2 sisters have started laying and the eggs are white with a tiny hint of blue (if you look real hard, with 1 eye shut and think blue). oh well. I have several people that do not want blue eggs including my mother, daughter and neighbor. I do have chickens that already lay blue and green eggs.

BTW George hasn't quit crowing since he got here and is trying to round up his own group of girls. Stealing from "good old dad". lol

I'm sorry do you consider yourself one of those "goofy people". Doing it because its trendy and you want to lose weight? Then yeah I said you're goofy! If your doing it for a legitimate reason such as you have a family member that you cook for, and are trying to keep them healthy.... Then I'm not calling you goofy. Really??? I have a cousin who has celiac, and I have an aunt on that is just plain goofy doing it because she thinks it will help her hair hav more volume or some BS like that, I understand both sides of the argument.

So rants about vegans, vegetarians, and "hardcore Christians" are fine, but rants about gluten free diets sets you people off? What is going on with this thread today?

OK everyone - lets chalk this little divergence up to the phase of the moon and move along.

It was HOT today, but luckily my older birds are figuring out that the pond will help them cool down a little. Fan in the coop, pond in the yard and electrolytes in the water. I may melt, but hopefully my chickens will survive.
LOL!

I made puddles for the chicks today..they do not cool off in the pool. I tried to put a few in, but, they thought it was horrible.
I worry if we have a repeat day. I tossed some watermelon in the freezer and hope that helps them.

Whatever.

Maybe I'm a little touchy since I'm waiting for my husband to get home. I want to try to save some artwork and family items and pictures from our cabin that is threatened by a wildfire. Not sure if they will let us in the evacuation zone.

Thankfully we live down the hill, so our pets, important documents and chickens are here. If we lose it, we lose it but I would love to grab a few things that are irreplaceable to me.

Just not used to some of the negativity going on this thread the past few days. I get enough crap at work - wasn't expecting it here.

PS:

BDM - nice idea for the footbath/poultry spa. :)

Edited for spelling - just can't type tonight
