KI4got - That's a bunch of roos!!!! How do you keep 'em from killing each other?

they just don't. they're all mellow breeds that get along peacefully. we have some occasional sparring for place, but nothing serious.

if you look at this pic, how many roos do you see?

ok i'll stop the guessing and magnifying glasses. there's 11. LOL can you pick them out?
3 red Dorkings, 3 silver grey Dorkings, LF blrw, bantam blrw, ee, 2 bantam cochins.

And a horse !!!!! That horse must be very gentle since the chickens seem to have no fear of it.
I like all the different colors of the chickens. It reminds me of a rainbow

but yes, for a 16 year old breeding stallion, merlin is the gentlest of souls... he's the one I trust kids with over any of my girls. LOL

here's my Mister Merlin.
the clipped pic and snow were at 2 years old, the rest more recently... he's a grulla buckskin pinto, but registered as a silver (because that's what color he was as a foal, and clips out to.

I want to post my favorite Orpington chick this year..

I am still not positive on sex..because I want it to be a girl. All though the breast is double breasted, I know the mother and it will turn nice and round as the chick matures.


I know this is a pullet. Same father different mother...A little too much skirt..but a beauty.

I free range everyone when i'm not trying to collect eggs for hatching, or if they're not old enough to breed...

and the chickens have no fear of horses, which is why my blind , old slow arthritic girl has killed so many this year... she steps on them.

Wow, I know very little about horses and had no idea they came in long hair!!!!!
