The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

And...one of my hatchery BR's...my former bumblefoot girl!

Your SFH are beautiful but your BR is such a cutie. How old is she? And if she is laying what age did she start? My BR Stella is HUGE and has had red comb & wattles for a couple months but I dont think she is laying. She doesnt squat for me and when I check her vent it still seems small & dry not like the others who are laying. But boy has she found her voice....she swuaks up a storm & does a good egg song even though I havent found her in a nesting box while she is singing........I think she is just complaining that I am so close to the coop and wont feed her. Did I mention she is HUGE? She is bigger than 3 of my older girls & she is the youngest of my brood

Here she is next to Sophie my BCM who is i believe 2 weeks older than Stella.

Yep...those BRs are quite meaty! She is 1.5 year old. Hatched Mar. 25, 2012 from Townline Hatchery ..the hatchery that supplies the local feed mills and TSC. I have her twin too.

My first batch was 2 BRs 2 EEs and 2 Hatchery RIR that are all 1.5 yr. Started laying around 22 weeks if I remember correctly.

How old is Stella? (This one gets called Atilla at times.) Have you noticed that those BRs say something different when they talk? It's more like whining. Sometimes they sound so pathetic..."feed me...I'm going to die right now if you don't feed me". :D

OH - and they remind me of Aunt Bee's physique.

She is 24 weeks.....when she was a little ball of fluff she used to honk. I hear once in awhile honk when one of the older girls peck her head when she is trying to eat

She is bigger than most of them but still scared of them. Now she talks so loud usually when I am nearby......I think to tell me she wants in the veggie garden or to critique my work, shes starving or just to hear herself squak

And all my girls act like they are starving ALL the time. I keep telling them to go in the yard and find something to eat....they just all sit in front of the door & peck on it. Its pretty sad they know me & my moms cars and go running for the coop when we get home.

And then when you take the top of the FF& Lucy & Edie fly up, sit on the rim & gobble food down. I keep telling them they are NOT starving.......they dont seem to believe me lol

I finally can post pics - never know when the page editor will let me see the tool bar or not.
Anyway, I wanted to show you what the sulmtalers (thanks again to Aoxa for identifying them) are looking like:

very docile, big and fluffy. They don't want to come out in the morning until is is really light out, I'ld say they leave the coop a good half hour after everyone else.

They are beautiful. I love the crest and the markings
