The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

My black cat, Moses is good for a few things. Some one in our area lets rabbits loose in our yard. Moses catches the rabbit and eats almost all of it. He also catches mice and small birds like starlings. He does not eat the starlings very often but my other grey cat will eat anything left behind by Moses. The grey cat has not caught its own food since we got it. Moses also tolerates toddler affection amazingly well. Over all I like Moses my black cat but the grey cat is pretty much useless.

mlowen, love the tunnel pics. Thinking of something similiar when I finally get the poultry netting for the danged sulmtalers. The remaining rooster hates hates hates them. He comes running and jumps on them spurs first. So
I can't reintegrate them wtih the flock.

That means they can't free range together either - ( I tried a couple of times) so, electric netting here I come. And, I'll need a way of getting them from their run to the electric paddock/netting. So your tunnel pics are perfect timing.

Also, am going to try molly's herbals. Have found a couple of wormy poops and perhaps the hens could use a little support in deworming. I pm'd phoenix for more info on her experience with it....can 't wait to try it.

Hi lala, I've been using Molly's for about 4 weeks now since I found worms on the roost. Phoenix said for an active infestation, she doubles up on Formula #1. The girls seem to like it just fine. I tried mixing it w/yogurt but the girls were like "Eh...it's okay." I ended up top dressing their FF with it.

hi all! quick question, Im using Scratch and Peck brand foods, in the soy and corn free type. I try to avoid soy in general for my families diet and like the idea of being soy free with the chickens as well. I also like the corn free aspect as well. However Im noticing most "commercial" organic/natural type treats and supplements, even forage cakes usually all contain corn in them. Do any of you have any fun recipes for cakes/treat bags? Thanks!

don't mean anything harsh but i think all cats should be shot like foxes, all they do is murder animals that mind their own business. no I'm not a "greenly" just seems right to me.

By that definition almost all humans should be shot too.

I'm stunned. When the situation has deteriorated to the point you're seeing worms, it's time for a serious look at management. Sorry if my post stuns anyone else but there's enough 'stun' to go 'round.
