Yipee! We have 2 external pips and we could hear some peeping! I'm giddy with excitement. My dh is laughing at me and so are the boys, but I know they are just as excited. My 15 yr old dd and 10 yr old ds giggled with me. How long now until they hatch completely?

you never know some take their time over a day some seem to pop right out in minutes..(which always seems to happen when you leave to eat etc..) I just had 15 hatch myself ...or I think the 15 was on its way out

The kiddos got the hang of the heat plate within about 3 hours. Went under it last night, no added light, and were out for the night.

I started them with a handful of litter from the chicken house yesterday and a plug of grass to start building immunities too.

absolutely nothing! its day 20. I never candled, dithering between letting the broody do what she knows to do versus intervention...am second guessing whether any eggs are fertile. will post as soon as I know something. by day 24, I figure if nothing has hatched, I'll have to get some chicks. darned, I am nervous!

question for all of you. can I put eggs that have been sitting on the counter for 2-3 days under a broody hen and what are the chances of hatching?

I would assume so i just hatched 15 /15 eggs 100% I found hidden in a youngster area i know not all 5 of my hens could fit, and hardly ever do all 5 lay in the same day and i had been selling hatching eggs the week i found them they were somewhere between 1 and 10 days old ...

Good luck with the hatch, Lala! Turned the heat lamp off tonight. Will check on the babies before bed to see how they're doing.

Does anyone know what this plant is? Hoping its purslane!
