Ahhhhh we all have those days as well. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it to much. They are all well and the 2 finally learned to go in the chicken door :)

Oh no. I am a new chicken keeper this summer and last night I forgot to put the poop board in the coop when I closed the chicken door (I have a small coop so I take the poop board out and scrape it in the AM and then put it back in in the PM so they have more room to move around in the coop during the day). AND there have been times when I forgot to close the chicken door at night, but I usually remember as I'm brushing my teeth or something so it isn't left open for long. That and my run is secured with hardware cloth and it has been warm out so not a terribly big deal to leave the door open.

You have just given me a whole new fear - forgetting to open the chicken door in the AM!

Okay, peeps.

"Mister" is officially gone. Yesterday I took 2 hens and Mister to live at a new home. They have lots of chickens and free range 5 acres with ducks, geese, pigs, goats, guineas... what did I miss?

Anyhow, he's gone. And it is too quiet.

Happy to have good news to share about my little wry necked girl. She is looking SO much better. Still giving her lots of raw sunflower seeds and vitamin drops, but she holds her head up fairly straight now and has started digging holes in the bedding!

Wonderful!!!!!!!!

What kind of drops did you end up getting for her?

Bah! Was in a wedding last night and had all of three hours of sleep on Friday doing last minute stuff for the bride. So woke up exhausted and hung over this morning. Let the birds out and went into town to get Erick's truck, came back to ANOTHER BEAR in the run killing my poor chickens like crazy. Do I have the worst luck or what?! Erick finally managed to put a slug in it. Just came back from the first hour of searching the woods. Going back out now. It was a good shot it will be dead somewhere. I'm so hot and mad...and nauseous. :(
