The Never Ending Story Of The Buffingtons

I guess I got lucky with mine...IV got two little giants of my own and they like to chase them and pick them up....although now since they are squatting its easier to catch them....so how long have your chickens been laying?

The 'bigger Buffingtons' started laying late last summer, Skye started a few weeks early. A few of the silkies have just recently started to lay. (Marshmallow, Annemarie, and someone else.)

I love it when they squat, it makes them so much easier to pick up and cuddle with

Since TLG doesn't have enough pictures or information for a chapter, she was considering not putting one up tonight, but, after remembering the promise she made to tatertot, she decided to do a new section called

Buffington Tidbits
In these posts, TLG will provide pictures (If possible), a fact about one of the Buffingtons, and a few small paragraphs about them. If anyone has any ideas on what TLG could write an actual chapter on, that would be great!

Now, lets begin! (Sorry about the huge space between lines, BYC is acting a little finicky)
Tonight, we will be talking about the Buffington's sleeping habits. In the coop, are two perches, one is smaller, meant for silkies (The Buffingtons originally had a brother named Lucky, who was a silkie, he went off to a farm with their other brothers), and a taller perch, meant for the Buff Orpingtons and Skye. However, it ended up being everyone's perch, because they enjoyed being close to one another and sharing body heat. When their new little silkie sisters came, they all slept on the floor in a little 'silkie pile' none of them seemed to want it any other way. One day though, little Carmel climbed up the ramp to the big girl's perch to sleep on the right side, far away from them. Chipmunk felt bad for her sister, being there all alone, and went to that side of the perch to keep her company. This went on for quite a while until Carmel convinced Cadbury to come up and join them. Cadbury enjoyed being high up, since she was a silkie, she was no good at flying like Chipmunk, so this was the highest she would ever be. A few days later, Carmel and Cadbury convined their sister Annemarie to sleep with them. Annemarie wasn't so sure, maybe she would stay on the ground a little longer, it was warm down there. But soon, curiosity got the better of her, and she climbed up to see what was so great about it. There is no doubt in the Buffington's minds that soon, all of their younger sisters would be brave enough to sit on the perch.
Picture time! (The quality was so bad because it was seven at night, and very dark)

Buffington Fact: The reason the top of Q's comb is hanging to one side is because she constantly used to stick her head through the coop wires to get some extra tasty grass, and then yanked her head back through, banging the comb.

Lol...how sweet...that you kept your promise..but you did an excellent job anyways. Thank you...I still look forward to more chapters...when you have time...ttyl

CHAPTER 40: Long Time No See

TLG would like to apologize, it has been a VERY LONG TIME since she has uploaded. She hasn't been feeling very happy lately, as there have been several deaths in her family (her grandmother, one of her rabbits, her tire loving cat, and the bottomless pit milkshake.) the silkies have grown older, but still do not trust TLG much at all, if anyone would happen to have any tips on bonding with them, she'd be great full. Now, TLG is feeling awkward talking in third person and is just going to let you read the story....

Today was icy cold, and TLG was feeling guilty. She had been so busy with school and other things lately, she had barely seen the Buffingtons at all! So she went outside to the coop and just started playing with them for a while. As she picked Eggnog up she could see the chicken tractor reflecting in the hen's eyes. TLG grinned, placed Eggnog down, and rushed to the tractor. The Buffingtons cackled with excitement, though the silkie part of the gang didn't know hat was going on.
TLG froze when she got closer to the tractor, something was wrong with it. But what? She just couldn't seem to put her finger on it. Then it clicked. The shelter was different, it didn't fit on the tractor well, and left several gaping holes! But where was the original shelter?
An annoying shrieking sound filled the air. QUACK. QUACK.. QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKK. Of course, now she remembered. The shelter had been given to TOLG's horrible ducks. ( last time we spoke the ducks were in the same pen as the Buffingtons, they aren't anymore after the two ducks became an incorrigible gang.) So now the Buffingtons wouldn't have a nice day in the tractor, they would spend the day in a mud hole pen. She apologized quickly and raced inside, unable to look at the excited faces of the Buffintons.
But she couldn't just abandon them. No, she would make it up to them. Rushing to the kitchen, she grabbed two paper plates and began making her masterpiece. The MIUTTBBTDTTCT AKA the 'Make it up to the Buffingtons because the ducks took their chicken tractor.' She thought it turned out very nice.

She raced out to the pen once more, where the Buffintons raced to her with glee. She poured some of it one the ground, and the Buffintons grabbed it.

Even 'the broody bunch' enjoyed it!
