Here's the completed roosts. My husband had the fasteners left over from a prior project. They are nailed to the support, but not to the roost, so I can pop them out easily for cleaning. DH was laughing at how long it took me to build them. It took me over an hour and he said it should have only taken about 10 minutes.

But I'm mighty proud...........they are PERFECTLY level. I really wanted to put them the other direction, but it's 6 feet there and 8 feet long where they are. So the longer side won to maximize roosting space.

I like the way you have your roosts. I'm going to bookmark this to show to my husband, as we are working on finishing our new coop. It's 10' x 12' and this could go in one corner, or in the center of the backside, and work great.

I think it will work well. The support boards on the side do NOT go all the way to the floor. They are nailed in with 16d nails, so there's nothing to get in the way of cleaning the shavings on the floor. The back one is 18 inches from the wall and the middle one is 12 inches out and 12 inches down from the back one, front one is also 12 inches out and 12 inches down from the middle one. Their heights are 12 inches (for the young ones), 24 inches and 36 inches.

Hope that helps. Now I just need the nesting boxes from Mary..........Me thinks she's stalling so Lukka will beat me.

(for those of you not aware, I'm in a contest to finish my coop before Lukka starts laying again - she's still mothering her 12 week old "baby")
