The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

I have local "chicken friends" that keep their silkies indoors, in their house. Not just a few either. A whole flock that live in 2 bedrooms. I have never been to their house but I can (or I should say can't) only imagine the smell and the amount of dust that leaks out under the doors!!
I take it silkies poop more than coturnix?

That's a toss up. Silkies poop is bigger, but quail poop more volume. :D
Our coturnix seem like they poop every couple of minutes. It's not big, but there's so much!! I would never keep them indoors in my house. They're in a coop in the garage with lights and pine shavings and mealworms :) they're spoiled

I tell ya, I've never kept an adult inside, until my current broody serama with her 7 babies. And good gracious, she can poop!! For such tiny birds, they can stink up a room real fast. The good thing is that its usually big blobs, so I grab them with toilet paper and flush it. Change the puppy pad about every second day.

Exactly. They just eat so much, so fast! I think quail were the stinkiest I ever had.

All quail? I have coturnix and I don't find them *that* stinky! That said, I used to live next to where they would spread pig honey as fertilizer. That's the worst thing I've ever smelled. And I'm pretty chill with farm smells.

my pigs are roses compared to the ammonia quail out, and my quail are outside in a wire floor cage
