I'm so happy I got 2 Americana hens show quality and a roo. We just went and got some chickens from Craigs list and my dad looked on Facebook and saw an Americana too for free so we contacted and they met. But at the place where I got the hens I paid 45.00 for a
barredrock/CL mix roo
2 Americana hens
A buff Orpington hen
And a astroplup hen
So I am looking forward to selling some Americana eggs starting in February or March my too is only 4 months but I will start a waiting list.
Visit ccpoultryfarm.weebly.com and go to the contact form please put that you want to be on the waiting list for that breed so I will know. Thank you all and have a marry Christmas

Hello and welcome to the 24 hr auction!

Congrats on your purchases - that sounds like a great deal!
I hope you do get to sell your eggs. Selling eggs is very competitive since now that so many people have nice birds.
A few things though, I am not sure that you can call your birds "show quality" unless they have been entered into a show and preferably won something. If so you need to state what they won.
Secondly you would need to state exactly which of the standard colors of Ameraucana you have. If the colors are mixed they are no longer show quality Ameraucanas but would then be called Easter Eggers.
Finally you will need nice pictures of your adult parents so that people know what to expect.
A huge issue in the past is people think they have been sold Ameraucanas when they are infact easters eggers so for this breed in particular you need to be sure to let people see what you have got.

There is a fabulous thread for Ameraucana owners where you can post pictures and get expert opinion on what you have.

Good luck!

Thank you

My hen won grand champion last year at our county fair but I'm guessing they kept everything that she won because I did not get it. But I plan to breed them and get good quality chicks for just laying or if someone wants some chickens for their kids to show. As it turns out they are EES because of their slate leggs. It was hard to tell what they were last night in the dark but I did look them all over this morning. I will get some pics tommorw.

Ameraucana are supposed to have slate legs. Easter Eggers usually have willow legs. County fair titles don't mean much unless it's APA sanctioned. Most fair judges can't tell a Barred Rock from a Silver Laced Wyandotte. You still haven't mentioned what variety they are. If they aren't a specific variety, they aren't Ameraucana.

How old are your new hens?

Those are Easter Eggers. They are not show quality.
I would take some hatching eggs from your girls, they are pretty. ;)

I love EE though!!

My girls should start laying any day now. I have 6 hens, white, chocolate, ginger, two variations of blue/gray. and two multi-colored EE roosters that are mottled red.

Love how they all look so different that I can tell them apart.
