Ameraucanas-- this is a tricky breed folks.
Easter Eggers are my preferred title for my hatchery stock, which are not bred to anything else just not bred to the SOP just for muffs and pretty eggs, which I love.
Ameraucanas-- some are bred to the SOP , some are project birds. You can ask a breeder about the details of their breeding project and find out what you need to meet your needs.
I personally have been breeding a Blue Ameraucana, from blabh-blah, and crossing to my easter eggers. Have a second blue to breed to the resulting girls. Because of the hatchery stock I call them Easter Eggers and enjoy their muffs and blue eggs. THe Blue AMeraucanas I have are well bred, and hefty boys. My EE girls tend to be much slighter which suits me fine as egg producers. THis is my blue Am project.
Many varieties are not APA listed. Doesn't make them invaluable. I have auburn turkeys-- supposedly as old as the hills but never APA recognized. Blackcopper marans-- only recently APA approved.
Clear as mud??
