The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

I love them and was so shocked to see the first ones. I was a little disappointed that I was getting a grey egg, then I decided, that was cool, cause I love silver, so I could say they were silver. Then they started changing as they laid more and the day I found lavender eggs right after the first one the day before, I was a happy camper.
I have a curiosity problem. Can you share pictures of these lavender eggs? I get some interesting colors of eggs. My favorite looks purple with black spots.

I love your egg color. I'm trying to get some that are a deeper purple and I have one of the hens in with a Wellie roo, to get spots, so you have me beat there. LOL

Wow! I was so confused, I thought you were talking about lavender bird color, not egg color! That is amazing! Bugger, now I want to add that color to my egg basket! Stupid chicken math!

Those are all beautiful eggs the basket really makes me want some of all the colors, but then again it is midnight here and I am just dopey from lack of sleep and doing paperwork. Really pretty eggs

You mean my project eggs? I do say they are projects, but I also say I get few and that they would otherwise be considered EEs. They aren't a breed yet and I don't get the eggs consistently, so I have to be honest when I do sell them. Those darn birds in that project though, think they're life's work is in going broody! I haven't seen a lavender egg in over a month! The only ones that are even laying are some white egg layers that I'm testing a roo on. If they don't show a tinge of the color, I have to swap them out till I find the right ones. I also have pullets that have to be held back to watch for the eggs and cockerels that I have to test to see if they carry the gene. I'm getting tired, running out of money and don't have the room to do what I really want to. But I tell you what. If I ever get them to the point of being consist ant, have a certain look and know they're healthy and going to do what I want. Those suckers will be sold later on as rare! LOL If you win and I have fresh eggs from any of them, I'll send some, but that depends on those wanna be mommas.
Yes, you told me they were project eggs. You said to check back because they were on strike. I'm still trying to get the croad langshans. I have someone but she has a waiting list. I should be close now. If get anything good I'll let you know.

someone posted the link for the Ameraucana breeder's club earlier, it's www.ameraucana.org
the recognized color varieties are Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten & White
that being said, breeding blue to blue will result in some splash and black as well. splash bred to black will in turn produce blues... so yes blue is recognized but black and splash are all part of the same breeding pen. most people just abbreviate it BBS.

lavender is a project variety people are working on... btw, the APA recognizes the COLOR name as self blue, but the name of the GENE is Lavender... confusing I know, but some people get hinky within certain breeds... the APA has stated repeatedly they will not add Lavender to the list of recognized colors, because self blue is already there and is the same thing.

project colors are things breeders are working on to standardize to eventually bring up to the APA and request approval usually... some color projects may never get standardized, some might.

again I ask, if they are purebred and bred to the standard of perfection, I'd like to see pics of your breeders and know what color varieties you are producing. if you are mixing colors, then they are not purebred since the resulting offspring would not match a standardized color. the only acceptable color crosses are blue/black/splash, and wheaten/blue wheaten.
Does sthat mean all breed have a self blue automatically included? Or is it just some or just the ones that have blue? So confusing. I just love mine no matter their color but I know when I want to start selling eggs they have to be seperated fro awhile.

Beautiful! I like that light color. I am interested in seeing if you can get a line that lays this color! My hen that lays that egg is a wellie that I got from chicken scratch poultry... If you get them wet they turn brown- then dry that purplish color again. I wonder how common it is. Anyway- sorry for derailing!
