The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Quote:
There are pictures in the original post of the hens and the roosters. The hens are all black and the rooster is partridge I think, correct me if I'm wrong Bama1. The eggs are a pinkish cream color I think theres a picture of them as well. I currently have 12 of these eggs in the bator and all 12 are growing nicely. She really does package as good as you can so they get to you in the best shape possible.

I wasn't worried about egg color, dottes are usually shades of brown. and I saw the birds posted but wasn't sure if they were pure color pens or a mixed one. that's why I asked. thanks. I'm looking for pure colors.

Thats right Sambi89 black orp hens and the partridge roo.

Quote: Yeah, winter! My power went out last night and all I could think about was all my eggs in the incubator dying! They only cooled off a bit so I'm thinking they should be OK. The first time I hatched in an incubator the power waited to go off when the chicks were 3 days old. Unfortunately the power was out for a week. I had to pack those poor chicks up in the truck and take them to work with me everyday (20 chicks). At night i heated up water on the wood stove and filled glass jars to keep them warm. Those chicks are sure hearty, and super friendly to boot!

Where did you work that let you take chicks with you? That's a cool story. That sounds like something I would have done. Can't lose those babies!

Ironically I work at a school that has a policy specifically banning "pets" from coming to work. Our by-the-books boss reminded us in August to read the "pet" policy in the employee manual. Chicks aren't really pets, they are livestock, right? LOL Anyway, after taking care of all the horses and chickens in the dark, I texted my supervisor and told her I could bring the chicks to work or I was calling in sick. She told me to come to work. I planned on just hiding the chicks behind my desk, but you know how loud baby chicks are! The kids loved them though, and before I knew it the chicks were all over Instagram and Snapchat. My secret was out! I had to go inform the principal that the chicks were in my room and I would just go home sick if they weren't allowed. He said they were fine, but we didn't dare tell Ms. by-the-books that they were in there.
Makeshift brooder at work.

in the truck on the way home from work. It looks sunny out the but the temps were in the 20s.
