It's 107 here. I have had to wet everything down 8 times already. Lost my best Lionhead buck yesterday. No one had been laying and all of a sudden I have eggs from the Wellies and OEs. Maybe they decided it was a way to let out some heat. Southern Cal High Desert is in the 120's. Feel for all of you there. I can barely stand this heat and we get it at 112 tomorrow. I saw all these eggs on auction and thought "oh, more poofies!" Then I thought about my flock all out there panting and miserable. I'll probably forget though later on when I decide it's cool enough for more eggs.

I so want some of these but it was 110' today and I'm afraid they will arrive as hard boiled eggs :(

Anyone know the max temp an egg can get and still remain viable? Been perfect weather here (about 75 degrees all week), but some of you guys are having a rough time w/ high temps... I seem to recall reading *somewhere* something about 105 being the cutoff... but cannot recall the context (storing for incubation vs. actual incubation) I do remember it being the membrane becoming impervious to gasses that caused the issue.

Don't know, but do know that traveling in some of these trucks, they will get a whole lot hotter than what is the outside temperature. I am bowing out of buying because of the heat wave here!

Not trying to be a smart *****, but wouldn't being stored at any temp higher than 100 be incubating the eggs anyway?
