The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Thanks.. they have amazing personalities too lol.. you would be surprised.. I miss turning them 5 times a day and waiting for the eggs to wiggle! :lau nah... it's easy... you just keep talking to the eggs and hopefully.. around day 33 or so you start looking for them to wiggle back at you when you talk to them uhm... is this better?
How cute! I kinda want one. How much space do they need? What kind of enclosure?

They need as much pasture space as you would have for a horse.. barbed wire will not work for them and neither will electric fencing.. so you would need either woven wire fencing or something similar and at least 6 feet tall for best results.. a few people have kept them in 4 foot tall fences.. but escapes are pretty common. Personally I have seen mine go over a 6 foot fence on a few occasions... so the taller the fence the better.

You have to remember too that they get BIG.. over 100 pounds and 5 feet tall is the norm... when mine stand up at attention they are well over my head, easily reaching a height of 6 feet.

they can also kill with a well placed kick, have razor sharp claws and on occasion can have attitudes even with their best buddies.

I love mine though.. giant "fuzzy dinosaurs"... they even have claws on the end of their (useless) wings!

Wow! They're so cute!

Just a note: KYTINPUSHER ships wonderfully and I hatched pretty babies from her. Next time I'm ordering more hen eggs and less Roo eggs! LOL

Anyone know how to ship chicks? Where do you get the box? Post office or online? Thanks
Only day old (72 hours and less in age) poultry can be sent in the brown chick boxes that don't have biofilters installed. Anything over that age has to be in birdsboxes WITH biofilters.
Always use a size appropriate box
NEVER include things like cups of water, or watermelon. They make the boxes wet.
Do include grogel, oranges, grapes cut up (chicks/chickens)

There are very few boxes actually APPROVED for shipping live birds, don't fall for a cheap box that isn't approved, and no matter what DONT poke holes in an express box and ship birds in it.

This is some info shared by Celtic Oak Farms. They also have shipping boxes available for purchase. :)
