My daughter has been unemployed here in our small town for over two years. Each time the paper comes out she gets it. What is she to do when they advertise 2 jobs both for men. Now her unemployment has run out and she was turned down for food stamps because she owns the land she lives on. Owning a piece of land does not put food in your childrens mouth. She is taking college courses to earn her BA in accounting but until she finishes its getting harder and harder. She is divorced and her ex has been getting away with only paying a portion of the child support. She went to court with him in January but because the case involved her ex givng achol to her children the judge overlooked the case about child support. So this so and so has been getting away with not paying what the state says he should. In the mean time she can't afford to go court again. DCF has said they will help but its June and shes still waiting. Thankfully we help her some but its getting harder and harder on us as well.
BTW Our unemployment rate here in our county is over 10%.

If it hadn't been for my husband's 401K, we would have been living in a tent on a friend's farm. When our house was foreclosed on, DH got very upset (understandably). I kept telling him, though, that we are a lot better off than many that lost their homes; at least we still have jobs (knock on wood). This country is in sad, sad shape and it's getting worse every single day...

Have found this whole thread and the video so very upsetting. What I don't understand is why lenders foreclose on peoples property knowing that no-one with the economy is in the position to buy a home. With unemployment being what it is, the economy failing/failed, why don't they have the darn foresight to leave people in their homes which are cared for and maintained and wait until things get better, then people have a chance to get on their feet, the economy to recover and restart mortgage payments. How many of these repossessed homes are going to fall by the wayside because noone lives in them.....

Wake up Lenders!!!.. it is so maddening that none of this is the peoples fault, but the fault of the banks in the first place, but it is always the "little" people who suffer at the hands of the "big" people.......... maddening!

The world is getting worse with no end in sight. Well I guess that will be the least of our worries if Obama keeps bantering with N.Korea.

Someone did tell me recently that things are predicted to get so bad that we will have to be completely self sufficient in order to survive. Now I'm not sure where they heard that or if there is proof behind it but to some extent I think it's true.

You would think that with all the "smart" people in Wasington running our country and who "knows what is best for us" would have took their bailout money and gave it to homeowners who needed it to pay the banks who then could have paid out millions on top of millions in bonuses!
Don't see where the bailouts helped out any of the common everyday people who are now losing homes on a daily basis.
fortunately for us we are not too bad off here and very thankful for it every day.

MIKCI she should qualify for at least 72 weeks, my dad has. And owning property shouldn't disquilify you. We got it and own a home. I think it is more like liquidable assets they look at. tell her to apply again, alot of times they want you to give up so they don't have to deal with you. Keep pushing~ Best of luck
