Do you mean 12:30 pm? I really don't think you should be spraying for roaches in the middle of the night.

If you really meant middle of the night then I'd say just sleep with him. If you mean middle of the day...have you tried a swing or vibrating bouncy chair? Wyatt loved to sleep in his swing. In fact, he slept there some nights b/c that's the only place he would sleep for a while.

arwyn's bouncy chair was a godsend too. another thing to try is to lay your hand on his chest for a few seconds after putting him down, just tricking him into thinking you're still holding him. Or a baby carrier, strap him on and carry on doing the housework.

yup....I would say sleep with him just to get some rest, but I think you mean during the day. They sometimes go through the needy stage, but it should be over soon. That is why the house is messy and dinner is not cooked when there is a new baby. Just sit back and enjoy the cuddle....the ants won't eat much

ya..I meant I was frustrated at 12:30am when it happens and spraying during the day. I need to get one of those bouncy chairs..seen em on CL for $15-$20 for nice ones. He sleeps in his swing a little better now, he was so small a few weeks ago he didn't really fit in it.
seems odd to be home all day and yet get nothing done.
I will try all your suggestions

When do you get to see him, Kelly? I'm contemplating going back to work, and working nights. But I'm going to have to figure out how to juggle working, sleeping, homeschooling, and having a toddler... sounds impossible, doesn't it?

I'm home with him every morning, until I decide to go to take him to daycare (I usually have him about an hour between when he wakes up and when I take him). I usually work 3 nights a week, so I'm home with him the other 2 nights and all weekend. By Monday morning I'm sooo ready for daycare.

I don't think I could ever handle homeschooling. I'd pull my hair out.

ETA: If I HAD to have him all day the nights would never work b/c I would literally never sleep (I work 6 pm to 8 am).​

You work 14 hour shifts? GRACIOUS!!

I take it you work for an emergency animal hospital? Must be stressful... you definitely need to be able to sleep after those hours!

I am trying to decide what schedule to work...I either go back to working long shifts 3 days a week or shorter shifts 4-5 days per week. not that I want to go back to work, well...actually it won't be too bad, just wish I could work part time instead. Haven't won the lottery yet so full time it is

But I am starting to get used to the new sleep schedule (or lack of sleep schedule) and I am excited that Shane seems to be fairly regular in the times that he gets up at night.

I wonder if anyone on here has noticed a difference in their baby when they start going to daycare/babysitters? I wonder if having multiple different people caring for 1 baby is a positive thing or if I should try to have a limited number of people handling and caring for him. My mom, sister and BFF are scheduled to care for him while I am at work and I hope he is easy going cause I am sure we will all do things differently.

holy cow..last night was terrible, idk if it was the heat making Shane cranky, but he was crying non stop for about 5 hours. couldn't decide if I should swaddle him when it is so hot. so I did and it didn't seem to help. He is farting a lot this morning and I wonder if he had some discomfort last night. I hope it wasn't the heat cause we have no a/c and if the heat bothers him, it will make for a real long summer! Atleast when he is at grandma's or my BFF's house he will have a/c. Us northerners aren't used to these warm temps...poor chickens were hotter than heck yesterday, awaiting the cold front today, come on rain!

Yes, emergency medicine. I absolutely love my job, but the hours suck. Saturdays are 20-hr shifts, but I try not to work them if I can help it. And since I'm Chief of Staff I get to make the schedule.

I am considering going part time to days and cutting back my night hours, but we'll see how it goes.
