Thanks, Everyone. Hard to believe it's been 15 days already. DH went back to work today.

We've been very lucky that he's such a good eater & I'm producing lots of milk. I pump about once a day and get over 3oz. He sleeps good but his long sleep is during the day and not at night.

He does seem to strain to poop. It seems to bother/hurt him. Is this normal in your experiences? His Dr said was fine but it distresses us.

The other Q is not about baby but about Mom. Of those who had tearing during delivery, how long did it take to heal? 1st, 2nd, & 3rd degrees. (No 4th)

I don't know what degree tear I had, but it seemed to take a month or so to heal. I think I recall about a month out the sutures were disintegrating (I know cause I saw them and was wondering for a second...what the heck is that?) And I was definately all healed at 6weeks although it still wasn't normal yet...I think it finally went back to normal around 2 months or so. But I had a real rough 1st 7 -8 weeks and that probably inhibited healing a bit since I didn't eat or sleep.

Shane looked like he strained to poo even when he had diarrhea, I think it is normal for them to look like they are straining. He now grunts when he is pooping. I think it's funny. As long as they are going regularly I wouldn't worry. If it has been 3 days and it looks like they are straining then I might be concerned, especially if there is still no poop.

Glad you were able to have your DH home with you...not everyone gets that luxury, but then again...mine wouldn't have been any help anyway so best he made the money.

Thanks! I won't worry then as baby is a good pooper- he just doesn't look comfortable doing it.

I'll keep waiting for things to heal *down there*

I am gonna vent for a second here to the only folks who may understand..

Please!!! Don't tell me "he should be sleeping through the night by now"...he's not! and I don't need everyone under the sun's advice as to how to fix it! Hearing that just makes me more upset in the middle of the night when I am super tired and don't want to be up. Then I get to thinking..what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it and why isn't he doing what he is "supposed" to do? It just isn't good for ones spirit. Each babe is different and I really only want to hear advice from people who have been through a similar experience and I don't run into those people.
I am much happier hearing of stories where the babes didn't sleep through the night for a long time. Sounds funny that I would be happier to hear that it could be a long time before I sleep through the night. Having high expectations about sleep only makes me miss it more and become frustrated.

k...done ranting

Shane has 2 teeth and I pray the others wait a while. I hope they don't come in back to back for the poor little man. He is dealing with it pretty good though. He is sitting up real good too! I am so excited about that, any milestones for anyone else?

I had a 2nd degree tear. Physically healed by 3 weeks. Still tender for about 3 months.

My babe is 10 months old. She crawls everywhere and pulls up on everything. She has 5 teeth. Still breastfeeding but eating solid food too.

My third son didn't sleep through the night until he was a year old - and then it was only because we moved his crib into his own room from our room. He still woke up in the middle of the night for several weeks after this, but he did eventually sleep through the night.

Every child is different. Some sleep through the night right away, others not for several months, and still others not until they are much older. My niece is 5 years old and still wakes up at night and crawls in bed with her mom and dad.

Took Carly in for her 2 month check-up and shots today... Oh my dear heavens!! I cried just as much as she did. It already breaks my heart when she cries, but when she cries so hard she can't breathe????? That's when I cry....

I can't even think about her crying like that without tearing up..
