The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

DMC, if it makes you feel more comfortable about Spuds...when we got our 2 indoor kittens, DH got 3 others to keep at the golf course. He kept them in the office the first several months then installed a cat door so they could go in or out. Now that those 3 are about 6 months old, they spend the majority of their time outside chasing down mice and voles. Terrific mousers, the population of them has dramatically declined. The cats are friendly too having been inside long enough to get used to people. They can use their cat door to go inside to get out of the weather (or hide) but do almost all their "business" outside (so very little litter box cleaning needed) and they enjoy climbing the trees, hanging out on the courtyard in front of the pro shop and riding around on DH's golf cart. We know that some day they'll probably have a coyote encounter but that's part of having an outside cat.

Here they (Big Daddy, PeeWee and Jet) are with my oldest DS when he came for a visit earlier this fall:

I'm having a hard time with the pooping on the floor. She's in the bathroom so it's easy clean up but not loving that part. She has a nice clean litter box...ugh! She's either in or out...I won't do both. I love cats...outside. My sister who also has cats is telling me to have patience but unfortunately I don't have much.

Good morning all. Sounds like our weather is going to start changing the end of the week. We have been blessed with a fabulous fall and the first snow of the year we're in a blizzard watch

Ugh! Need an opinion on declawing cats...I looked it up and it freaked me out. Not sure I can go through with it when it comes time.

I agree with Debby on the declawing. I'd just trim them regularly. This is a kitten, right? Trimming cats claws is much easier than dogs. Especially if she's friendly. Rub her paws and handle her feet while she's young, as it will help her to not pull them away from you when trimming time comes!

Good luck with the blizzard. Hopefully it will come and go quickly, and not cause any issues.

I forgot where most of mine are - along with the lost marbles I guess.

Probably hiding in a missing sock somewhere.

So there's a birthday today. It's a bittersweet one.....our beloved and very much missed grandson Austin would have been 27 years old. He wasn't big on birthday cakes - his one indulgence was Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups. He took his own sweet time coming into the world. I wish he'd have taken his own sweet time leaving it.

Happy birthday, sweet boy! Thank you for making our lives richer.

Now get back to the sillies....I need to smile today!!
