Aw, shucks! I'm blushing here!
I finally did it, took the plunge, bit the bullet...10 beautiful little ducklings have been ordered and should be showing up at my house April 11th! I'm already excited and can't wait to see them. This could be a long winter...
Oh goody, I'm getting DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, we need to know breeds, I have muscovy, my girls are still waiting on a new man, they have been without one since last winter.
Edited to add congratulations.
I've wrestled with which breed to get forever, did a lot of reading, made up a chart to compare at a glance things like broodiness, color of eggs, etc. First I was only going to get 6 but once DH found out it would actually be cheaper to get 10 (due to shipping cost), he "twisted my arm" and convinced me 10 was a good number. So I just got all the breeds I wanted to try:
2 Khaki Campbell
1 Welsh Harlequin
2 Blue Indian Runners
1 Blue Swedish
1 White Hybrid Layer
It's going to be fun trying to figure out who is who, especially when they are little. And interesting to see how the various breeds are different. And finally, sometime next year, I'll get to try duck eggs for the first time!
Do you have a pond, if not then gives you time to add one
That's going to be a real pretty mix for you, should be lots of messy fun.
Thanks! Nothing like some good clean, messy fun
Add 'smelly' to that list. Will you be able to brood them outdoors?
@LittleLakePhil you need to check in here...I think there's a birthday we need to celebrate!
