It's my birthday so you have to give me whatever I want and indulge me...its' in the Birthday Handbook - at least in mine. Little Diane posted this this afternoon along with a couple of pictures of the two of us. Many years ago when we took custody of her and her brother Jamie from their mom (my daughter) I would often cry and question myself, wondering, "Are we doing the right thing?" The surprise this week for Christmas and now this post tells me that we did.

"Happy birthday to the single most strong, independent, nurturing and loving woman to ever step foot on this planet. I know I've put her through hell and back a couple times, but she has always been my rock and has been supportive of every thing I've aspired to do or become. My moral compass points the way it does because of her - sometimes opiniated- but caring guidance. We might not always see eye to eye on things, but that doesn't matter, because even if we bicker, we're still going to be playing cards together after just a little while at the same kitchen table I've sat at since I was a little girl.
Her dedication and passion for her family is unparalleled. And I love her so so much.
I know it probably hasn't been easy being kinda gramma kinda mom, but you truly are my idol in every sense of the word. And I'm honored to have been named after you!! And why's that? Cuz two Dianes are better than one!
"
This is one of the photos she posted....it was taken when we went back to South Dakota for Thanksgiving, and the little stinker already KNEW she and Dustin were coming home to spend Christmas with us and had everything already arranged! Isn't that awesome? I love my life!!!!
