So you got the cold water running again then? Must have just been a small ice block in the line and it cleared. Here we leave the water running a bit in all faucets AND leave cabinet doors under sinks open. We do that at night and if we are going to be gone for a few hours. The water isn't running enough to hike up our water bill, but it sure saves a ton of money on unexpected plumbing bills to thaw, and sometimes replace, pipes. We also use heat tapes.He left the house in a bit of a grump. Don't think the helpful suggestions here would have made him any happier.
Blooie, no we didn't think to leave a bit of cold water running. Oops. We do have some going now, hopefully that takes care of it. We'll sure know better next time.
