The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

He left the house in a bit of a grump. Don't think the helpful suggestions here would have made him any happier.

Blooie, no we didn't think to leave a bit of cold water running. Oops. We do have some going now, hopefully that takes care of it. We'll sure know better next time.

Man, this move from FL to WY has a bit of a learning curve.
So you got the cold water running again then? Must have just been a small ice block in the line and it cleared. Here we leave the water running a bit in all faucets AND leave cabinet doors under sinks open. We do that at night and if we are going to be gone for a few hours. The water isn't running enough to hike up our water bill, but it sure saves a ton of money on unexpected plumbing bills to thaw, and sometimes replace, pipes. We also use heat tapes.

Just in case you hadn't heard:

Yeah, that's cold.

The cold water is running to the washing machine in the basement and is just now starting upstairs in the sink. Thanks for the tips Blooie, you've been a good WY mentor

You're welcome, Debby! Glad some of the worthless trivia in this old brain is useful! You caught the blockage before it traveled up or down any further into the water line, so that's a good thing. And thawing by just letting it run is way better than laying out there with a hair dryer or heat gun! Slower thawing is always better than rapid, if you have the time to do it.

What made you choose Wyoming? (She asked as she tries to keep up with thread again, after being awol for a while) You could have chosen Wisconsin instead, where we are about ten degree warmer, plus we have cheese, funny that -3 is warmer.

You are a great Welcome wagon Blooie. Does anyone else remember that? The welcome wagon lady coming around to welcome you to the neighborhood. Ahhh, the good old days.

Being a Navy wife for the first 26 years we were married, we had something similar called "nosy base housing neighbors." They were welcome, though! They gave us the skinny on where the bus picked up the kids, what day of the week garbage was picked up, when to expect weekly specials at the Commissary...and of course which other neighbors they weren't speaking to and why!

I do remember commercials for the other Welcome Wagon, though...nice looking ladies in dresses and heels with baskets on their arms. Ah, the good old days!
