The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi KDOGG331 :frow Nice to see you here!

Hi KDOGG331 :frow It's good to see you here!

Speaking of cats, you should see @sunflour 's cat, Buddy. He's not only handsome, but is a very talented baker :D

Hi! I saw your reply to Scott in the Café and knew I couldn't not come see the cat! :lau (I would rather use the laughing crying emoji cause this one is TOO much laughing but the site deletes my phone emojis haha)

Anyway, I think I'll stick around now :)

And I hope to see some pictures of that cat :)

the mechanic that was taken off to jail Friday for the outstanding warrant in Casper.

At least a relief it was one employee to lose :)

I'm getting there,

Hang in there, you will be back to normal soon.

He is now a little chubby loves to eat almost toothless feline, but is planning for gingerbread baking :lau

Awww he's adorable!

Buddy is very beautiful!

I can share my stoopid cat who decided the incubator was a good place to sleep - nice and toasty warm you see. (She's deaf and half blind and doesn't have much between the ears.)

Except she turned the dial and dropped the temperature! I didn't notice until she got off and I checked it before bed. Button babies seem alright though thankfully. I had to help one hatch - all it had done in 24 hours was stay stuck at the pip stage. It's a big baby so I think he was just stuck. I thought he'd be able to push out overnight (I left enough off to stop him getting suffocated if the membrane shrank a bit but so he still had to do a bit of work) but, no, he was still stuck in there this morning because it had dried and stuck to his down (despite 80% humidity). All it took was a wet down for him to start protesting loudly and push himself out! Two more have pipped internally, then that's it for this round.

My cockatiel babies are adorable, and huge. (That's my DD's arm and hand). They are big birds compared to the average weights I've found online to compare them too. One has been nicknamed Teddy as it's just a teddybear, so relaxed and easy going. The others are still a bit cautious. When you first open their box they hiss and sway in unison (it looks quite spooky) but they've been eating really well today.

This little guy is very cautious, and this one is Teddy.

Jae cut it out.! Who knew cockatiel babies were so stinking adorable? I didn't know cockatiels hissed. Can they be sexed by color, or are they just different color varieties?

My sister had one eons ago, he was afraid of me and I was afraid of him. Any birds flying around head and shoulders scare me. He would sit on everyone's shoulder but, mine. I was so grateful for that.

At least he respected that you didn't want to be chums!

Cockatiels can't be sexed before about a year old apparently, and some varieties (I suspect these ones) can't be visually sexed at all, although two are supposed to be pearl pieds so they have a pattern on their grey wing splotches that in males will eventually molt out to just plain grey - only girls retain the pretty speckles. They are pretty darn cute! I was wondering if the hissing and swaying was them pretending to be a snake to put predators off (they are Australian after all). It looks so weird - I should try and get a video of it, not that I know the first thing about YouTube or how to upload stuff onto it to post the link here. We need a new computer and my DH has been weighing up different models, systems etc and my eyes just glaze over when he starts talking about this and that - it means absolutely nothing to me!

Good morning!

J, I agree with DD...those cockatiel babies are cuuuuute :love Looking forward to hearing the future adventures of Teddy. Very interesting about them hissing and swaying. It would be fun to see a video but all the computer chatter puts me to sleep too.

Not much news to report...yesterday was pretty uneventful (which was a nice change, lol). I did smoke a rainbow trout for a coworker, never done that before but it was super simple. The skin changed from silvery-rainbow colored to golden and it was delicious.

Hope you all have a good Thursday!

The are adorable. I had to google the hissing, there's several examples on youtube - it would make me wear gloves to handle them :).

JaeG, you are so good at those close up photos - are you using a smartphone or digital camera?

yesterday was pretty uneventful (

Now, that's great news :D . And hope today is "uneventful" and fun.
